Make it With Mav! Someone recently towed something heavier and had no issues.

I would trust how you feel with the load. It is pushing the manufacturers "recommendations" but there have been many comments around the web that a lot of people feel that the Mavericks tow ratings are low. Just remember if the total load is over the manufacturers recommendations you hold all the responsibilities in an accident. But I would tow 3500 behind it without question

Well you are rated to tow 2000 pounds so if your weight post is correct you are within specs.
Next weight you have to worry about is the gross combined weight rating which is 6010 pounds. With an about 3636 pound vehicle you are sitting at about 5496 giving you ~500 pounds for yourself and whatever you are packing (in the cab). Again if you are under 6010 then you are within specs and really don't need a tread about it.
You should never go over these numbers. They are not only there for your safety but everyone's safety on the road around you.

Like the post above said make sure you arent over GCVWR on the door when loaded up, you can find a cat scale near you online to make sure if you are concerned. Also, a WDH might be a good idea to get some weight on the front tires, good luck. Sway control wouldnt hurt either... Its been my experience with bumper pull travel trailers that its not so much the weight but the sway from side wind and uneven roads that can get you in trouble, especially at high speeds. I usually cut the tow rating in half when towing things that catch alot of wind, low profile trailers are no prob.

Once the trailer is loaded, make sure you have 10% of the trailer weight on the hitch. If you put 140 lbs in the trailer then your hitch weight should be around 200 lbs. You can get a pretty pretty good indication with a bathroom scale under the jack.

WAY over the frontal area max of 20 square feet. That looks at least 45-50 Sq. Ft of frontal area.

Remember the truck deflects a lot of the frontal aera of the trailer so you must subtract that aera. There are many people towing way more, even without the 4k tow package.
Edit: I should have used may instead of must.

Not how the way that works. After the air goes over the tailgate it hits the trailer full force. You don't get to subtract any frontal area of the truck. A cap on the bed would help, but doesn't change Ford's spec. If your truck gets towed in with that trailer for a burnt up trans, they can deny warranty based on frontal area being exceeded.

My, setup. Towed over 1000 miles, I wouldn't recommend any larger of a trailer for the frontal and cross winds. I weighed in at a CAT scale to check the weight of the trailer and combined. The trailer weighed 3580, the total combine weight was 75??. I pulled the entire trip at 65 getting 15mpg+/-. Also, for a good 60 mile stretch had a 25-35 mph cross wind. I wouldn't hesitate to pull far more weight if need, but you definitely could feel the wind and trucks passing. Not getting push around they just let me know they were there. Since towing that I have put more than 3500 additional miles on mine with no hiccups. I would like to add a roof top wind deflector to get the aero a little better. To each their own, follow the manufacturers recommendations, or not. The important thing is if you go out of those recommendations you as the driver hold all of the responsibilities if anything happens. Also, for them to deny the warranty you would have to give them the information, for me they would simply have to ask the right questions to get the answers the would need, but I have less than 12000 miles left on my warranty so not really a big deal for me.

XL hybrid with factory hitch. 7 to 4 pin connector. 1860 lb trailer. Just girlfriend and I, we pack light. Am I pushing it? Personally, I think not. Just towed it home.
So your trailer has a 7 pin connector? Has brakes you did not use?

I'm the OP. The trailer is actually 1440lbs according to the CAT scale. As far as the frontage area, Fords own advertising seems to disregard this. I put about 5000k towing this trailer with out a hiccup.
