Howdy, I just got my 2023 Maverick Hybrid, and went to install a catch can on it, not realizing I had done my research on the 2.0L Ecoboost engine bay, oops... Anyways, I'm like 90% sure this is the line I tap into, but just wanted to confirm before doing anything to serious.

Ford Maverick Which line to tap for catch can install on the Hybrid engine? Inked2022-ford-maverick

Am I correct? Also anyone done this on their hybrid yet, how's it gone?

No! Don't tap THAT line!!!
Bad idea!
That's the high voltage vapor return line.

No? They're to clean the air being sprayed into the cylinder heads to prevent buildup, they're common on older priuses to prevent rod knock which aren't turbo'd
That’s a new one for me.

From what I understand catch cans are primarily for some turbocharged engines but don't do a lot for the hybrid or normally aspirated engines with a working PCV system. Some call them a myth. Heck, I've read stuff on how great they are and others where IF you changed your oil frequently using quality oil and filter changes they made little difference in the long term durability of the engine. I'm not a mechanic nor knowledgeable on the subject, so others can chime in and give better advice. Sorry.

My understanding catch cans are for Direct Injection engines. NOT port injected. The difference being port injection injects fuel into the port before the intake valve so it cleans the oil from the PCV system off the valve. Where Direct Injection the fuel is injected into the combustion chamber there for NO fuel to clean off intake valve that comes from the PCV system. No idea why some claim turbo has any play in this. Turbo on the intake side just has pressurized air . Pressure increases heat so maybe the oil from PCV system is more prone to get burnt onto intake valve? Either way its all about Direct Injection verse Port Injection. Say a turbo engine had port injection then I would say no catch can needed. Yes yes I know the 2.0 Ecoboost is both turbo and direct injection but the need for catch can is related to the fact its Direct Injection not turbo charged.

Since Hybrid is port injected DON'T do it your wasting your time.

The other reason, particularly motivating Buschur's offering, is preventing PCV oil vapor building up in the intercooler decreasing air charge cooling efficiency. Obviously a naturally aspirated engine has no intercooler. So another reason it's unnecessary for the hybrid.

Adding a catch can will void your warranty. If you have any engine-related problems, the dealer will blame the catch can.

Does the PCV line actually connect 'before' the intercooler though?

(I'm total non-engineer and n00b to turbo plumbing. Just seems crazy to me!)

Unnecessary on the EB, useless on the hybrid. Don't do it, but if you do, find one of the orange lines to do it to. 🤡

( Don't do that...)
