Look into Waxoyl, We've had it done on several vehicles and it is the best, not inexpensive but worth it IMHO. Once and done as they say
BTW I have no connection to Waxoyl other than a satisfied customer.

Hi, I was driving by a local bodyshop and they are advertising an oil rustproofing. I am familiar with Ziebart type of undercoating but not an oil kind. Anyone have any info on this? Is it any good?
I undercoated my truck with Cosmoline.
There is a thinner option for inside the doors and tailgate.

They were easy to install with the truck on a lift, but so messy. If you are not careful and diligent it gets everywhere. I will take some of the mess for the protection it claims to offer, if true.

The undercoating supposedly lasts years. The creeper coat should last a year, but only took 15 minutes to spray in the doors.

I will update in 5-10 years and let everyone know if it works, haha.

Cosmoline, has been a long time since I heard that. I used to work for a company that built large machine tools. Before shipment we coated the machine with cosmoline. Happy I was the electrician on those machines.

Found a place not to far from me that just does undercoating. Not a body shop. Perfect google reviews seems like they do both oil and something called boss wax. I will give them a call.

Worth every penny. You can get product and spray gun on ebay and do yourself. Ive used fluid film and NH undercoating. Both work great NH product is thicker and stays on around wheel wells better. Fluid film is diy friendly and creeps much better.

I removed all my inside door panels, under body covers, and wheel well liners. I then wrapped tin foil around all electrical connectors. I then mixed equal amounts of bar oil, linseed oil, and kerosene for thinning. I put it in a fruit tree sprayer and sprayed it everywhere. The kerosene thins for spraying, the Linseed oil helps the concoction firm up and dry. very cheap if you have the time and desire. I have about $20.00 in it and two days of my time. Been doin this for years with great success. The only thing you need to remember is to wash the outside of the truck after you are finished because the Linseed oil is hard to get off the paint after it is dry.

I use Fluid Film on my Wrangler. It works very well. Should be done yearly as it will wash off but it is not bad for the environment.
I agree Aaron! Here is a video I show using Fluid Film I bought at Home Depot. It only took 5 cans at about $10 each.

Hey boss, There are many type of oil undercoating. Unfortunately, majority of them are bad if not horrible. They all claim to protect. But, in reality they lock moisture on surface that contribute even more to rust quicker. They best undercoating Ive seen in my life is Krown. I undercoated both of my vehicles 5 years ago and few month ago power washed bottom of my vehicles by accident and I was surprised to see originally painter metal, all components with that were coated with Krown got original black paint on them.
Also, with oil undercoating your garage and drive way will look like shit, after its start dripping or you managed to find a paddle. And you will not be able to remove it in the life time.

Yeah that is a concern. Heard they trap all the grit from the road too. Plus you have to re apply periodically. Alot of snake oil out there. The guy I am thinking of using does not recommend oil type on a new truck. Of course he's pushing the most expensive option. Thanks

I remember when I applied Krown, mechanic told me to find sanded road and drive for 10min. It helps to lock undercoating in place. Even after 5 year coating had consistency of peanut butter. 1/4 inch thick.

My father had an old British car that dripped oil around the pan gasket. He was told to not bother with a repair since they all leaked.

50 years later and that car was covered in oil sludge from the engine back and not a bit of rust!
