And vehicles have been powered by internal combustion engines for a century. No reason to change that either?

Tesla has shown that the auto industry needs to modernize and change.
There's a lot that needs to change. For instance power generation. Here in the sad state of Illinois we had brownouts in that last mild storm here. And, the system is right at capacity in the summer. If we had 10% electric cars it would push us over the edge.

It is a sad time (almost laughable) when people brag "I only paid $xxxx over msrp".
It's completely laughable when someone pays $4, $5, or more for "brown water" at "$tarbuck$" yet millions of people pony up every day.

Completely insane. Completely illogical.

🤣
But is ironic that buck$ is actually in the name, as in you are paying big bucks for mostly water.

That's exactly what I thought would happen. People ordering (refundable) wish list vehicles or paying too much for new and used vehicles due to "market conditions", then the market tanks and people back out of orders when they can't afford due to interest rates, gas, and in general a piss-poor economy. This will leave dealers with the bag and stuck with in some cases a large supply of vehicles they can't sell anymore due to market conditions. I really don't feel sorry for these dealers either. They should have been trying to move them all along instead of adding fees. I have a Hybrid on order, but I may actually be able to buy one below MSRP in the next few months as dealers try to move inventory off the lot.

Inorite.

It's like the same thing with wine!?

Went out to dinner, and this place wanted like $110 for a bottle of champagne that my wife likes.
It's mostly water.

Yep. Some things you want, regardless of price. Caffeine addicts feel (literally) Starbucks coffee is worth it even if it has no food or nutritional value.

The whole "MSRP" fixation is just that.

Will be interesting to watch this one, almost $7,500 over the sticker! 😬

Please point me to the dealer(s) where Mavericks are accumulating.

That would be great.
Grainger. Somewhere in Iowa cornered the market on them. Stacking them three, four deep in the lots.

Food for thought! Yes.

Here is a thought. The Santa Cruz and Ridgeline are in much, much lower demand than the Maverick.

2022 sales for the Maverick were something like 75k.
Santa Cruz was closer to 30k.
Ridgeline around 40k.

the Fact that a person can actually Buy a new Santa Cruz or Ridgeline off the lot is food for thought.

I purchased a 2022 XL Ecoboost AWD with CoPilot, the all weather mats and spray in bedliner on November 21st for $29,305. I looked at it after the order was rejected and it was $31,705 just a touch over $4000 above MSRP on the sticker at that time. Fast forward 2 weeks and they dropped it $2400, I swore I would not spend a penny over MSRP but I gave in and bought it. They were so confident they would sell it they rejected my $30k cash offer so waiting saved me almost $700. Hopefully I did OK on the deal. Did have it towed in 7 days later at 180 miles leaking oil badly from the oil filter adapter housing area. Been no problem an additional 600 miles later.
Forgot to mention it also has the 4k tow package and is Area 51 blue.
