Great idea. I am going to check to see if a liability umbrella policy is an option.
YMMV. I have had friends that did that and it worked and friends that did that and it didn't. We have everything through State Farm. I got a $1M umbrella and my total bill went down by $3 per month. So, I ended up with more coverage and am paying less because I signed a piece of paper. They told me as the umbrella is already a personal liability, there is no point in paying twice.

Talk to your insurance agent to see if that makes sense to you. The $1M was enough for me (for now) because of Alabama tort limits. It will vary depending on your state's laws and your assets.

I tried getting a quote from the provider I was using for the same coverage I had on my previous vehicle and it was insanely high (~200/mo). Every other provider was almost as high or even higher. Checked Progressive and it was only $115/mo so that's what I went with. It would have only been like ~$90ish if I used their safe driving tracking app but no thanks.

Shop around because none of it makes any sense as to why the prices are the way they are. Be prepared for constant phone calls coming in after requesting online quotes (even if you select "contact by email only"). I used a burner number on my google voice account (it's free with a Gmail account) so I didn't have to deal with it. It gets 10 calls a day now lol.
Thanks for that great info! You would think the same coverage you’ve been using for your other vehicle would give some type of “loyal customer discount” or something. I’ll check with progressive for sure 🤟🏽

This is true. I’ve been waiting a year and my production date keeps getting changed and is now to be built week of Jan 2.

Car insurance is going to be impossible to really compare with others due to so many factors (location, coverage, driving record, etc.) Just get a few different quotes to keep them as honest as you can. But remember to factor in your experience with them, because in the event you need to put in a claim they are not all the same.

Your zip code makes a lot of difference for most insurance quotes (among other things). I'm in rural KY, have had insurance with Shield of Shelter for well over 10 years, aged 66 yrs., '23 Maverick XLT EB fwd C360 hitch on the road just beyond $27K quoted $358/6mo. Oh, I have nothing negative on driving record.

Pepper red xlt be built but in the meantime need to start getting some quotes for car insurance. What are people using and where are you guys finding decent quotes for a brand new spankin Maverick?
So far Hartford is cheapest $1205/yr, but only if you pay the full year up front. Geico, which I have now quoted $704.88 for 6-months, and AAA $703 for 6 months.

There is no logic when it comes to insurance at times. I was with progressive for 10 years and they decided to jack up my rate for no reason so I dumped them and went to State Farm for 6 months and then State Farm jacked up their rate. I switched back to Progressive for less than I was paying before they jacked up my rate previously. It makes zero sense. No sense in being loyal to an insurance company when they aren't to you.

It's definitely one of those things that's good to shop around occasionally instead of just renewing with your current carrier. Won't always make sense to switch but sometimes it does. Just make sure you're looking at the same coverage level between your current policy and the new quotes.

I was paying about $94/month but after a Speeding Ticket and the renewal it went up to $140/month. This is in Georgia btw.

My Geico is $574 / 6 mo. I have several supplemental coverages. Rental, Roadside, and the optional underinsured/uninsured coverage for both medical and property damage. Hybrids are now on the insurance companies radar. I know for sure personally, American Family is hybrid unfriendly.

~1,200 per year from Pemco (they operate in Washington and Oregon). Includes some things like "Under-Insured/No Insurance" feature for deadbeats who might get into an accident with me and not have any insurance on their vehicle. Comprehensive coverage with a $100 deductible, $150 towing allowance per occurance "when your car wont operate under its own power", etc...

I was testing today to see if State Farm to see if there was much of a difference between Hybrid and AWD as I read on here. There was no difference luckily. So for me it is $54 not bad compared to my current car.

Doesn't surprise me. My experience with State Farm, the difference between 360A and no 360A will be bigger. They love the safety features.
