I don't know what any of that means but if it means lower insurance rates on the Maverick that I'm all for it. I do know that on my 2008 Camry the one I traded in for the Maverick just for getting it on the road and for deer and glass coverage It was like 600 bucks a year. On the Maverick I have full coverage and it's 1200 a year so I'm not sure if this is why or what

Hopefully that trend continues, as it may result in the rating symbol reduced by vehicles series rating. How much we pay for insurance is in part determined by the individual's VSR (Vehicle Series Rating), which publishes 'Symbols' for Comprehensive, Collision, and in some cases Liability/Personal Injury rates. With new models they start by using Comp/Coll Symbols based on MSRP adjusted for Mfg historical data for similar vehicles. Over time, as history accumulates for the model, they adjust those symbols based on actual experience.

This could mean a definite win-win for the owners, as companies adopt the revised symbol tables.

I'm seeing the same thing, the liability is in line with today's costs, but the comprehensive & the collision are high, each one is higher than the liability alone, I am currently shopping around to find a better deal if it exists.
Update 9/20/24, by switching companies I was able to get a rate that is 42% less than I was paying for identical coverage. I was shocked at such a reduction.

interesting. I would hope it does help rates decrease, or at the least, not increase as fast.

out of curiosity I looked at the comprehensive lowest/highest and was not surprised to see Dodge on there (fobs can easily be intercepted and cloned), but older Kia/Hyundai was not nearly as high which I think is pretty unusual since they were being stolen left and right with a USB thumbdrive jammed into the ignition.

Insurance rates are very dependent on vehicle value. A 2008 Camry has a blue book value of about $7K. The Maverick will be about $30K depending on trim level. In the event of an accident, the amount the insurance company needs to pay is much higher with the Maverick. Full coverage adds more expense than just comprehensive (deer and glass). A more expensive vehicle like an F-150, the rate would be an even bigger increase.

My current premium for my 2024 Lariat Hybrid is $522 with State Farm.
