About 1hr 10min into the video above, Tim states that Ford updated the order guide and will now be providing XL and XLT Mavericks with one function key and one depopulated key. He states that you can get around this by adding remote start.

Has anybody heard any extra info on this? I’m looking for answers to the following questions:

How soon is this change being implemented? My 2023 XLT Lux is already scheduled, so it’s too late for me to add remote start to keep the second key.

Will Ford offer a discount for removing the additional fully functioning key? If not, will they be providing us with a fully functioning key when they’re available again?

I remember how everyone freaked out when Ford Authority reported it two months ago that it was only for the Transit, fake, unsourced, trolling...
Definitely one person here who jumped down my throat for pushing "misinformation" yet here it is from TB's mouth.

This is from the updated order guide:

Two Key Fobs with Perimeter Alarm – 1 Keyless Entry Key Fob & 1 Manual Key Fob (no keyless functionality) Note: Not Available w/ Remote Start System (18R) Note: Required Option except when equipped with Remote Start System (18R)

I haven't seen any update about which build-dates this will apply to. Or if there will be any discount (if so, $20??)

They did a similar thing for SD and Ranger....and recently got enough chips, and reversed the decision (for now?). So this may change.

I remember how there was nothing definitively pointing toward it applying to Maverick until now.

Also remember the previously announced models being a potential occurrence, nothing written in stone, and never confirmed that it was actually implemented.

Trolling, you say...

Thanks for the info. I had a 2022 with a VIN that got canceled and rolled to 2023. Last week I got scheduled for build week of Jan 9. My order is XLT Lux, but I left off remote start when my dealer resubmitted it.

What’s your opinion on this? Do you expect this to only affect new orders, or do you think it will affect orders that are already submitted/scheduled?

LOL

"This is a good sign the chip shortage crisis is being resolved."

"The popularity of the Ford Maverick isn't expected to slow down anytime soon, and now CarBuzz has learned it will not come with a depopulated key, as some outlets previously reported.

A Ford spokeswoman has confirmed to CarBuzz the following: "The depopulated key is not currently an available option for Maverick and is only in our order guide as a precautionary measure in the case that a chip shortage impacts our supply of fully functional keys."

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully that means we’ll be getting functional keys for now.

Assuming you didn't watch the video but he's reading straight from the Ford issued order guide when he talks about the depopulated key for XL and XLT Mavericks.......I don't think Tim Bartz has sent out any misinformation in relation to the Maverick.

What discussion on this site would make anyone think even Ford knows what keys we might get?

I can't even get my dealer to answer an email.

The post you quoted notes that it's essentially a disclaimer in the order guide that this may happen at some point in time but they have no concrete plans to do so, yet. In other words, it provides context to the text in the order guide.
Did you watch the video? Did anyone actually watch the video? haha, at no point did he say anything remotely close to it being a disclaimer, he just read it straight off the order guide and said that the only way to get two fully functioning keys on an XLT was to option the remote start feature which requires the luxury package. This does not apply to Lariat and XL owners are just plain out of luck apparently and are stuck with the one depopulated key.

Please re-read what both of us said. Please read the shared quote from a Ford - corporate, not dealer - spokesperson.

You seem to feel an irrational need to defend Tim when he's not even being questioned here.
LOL, he's reading off of a Ford corporate order guide and Carbuzz is a trash automotive publication, akin to the tabloids you'd find in the checkout line at the grocery store. Are we quoting motorbiscuit too? Why isn't this spokeswoman mentioned by name? Who is the spokeswoman? Just saying I'd trust Tim's info reading it straight from the order guide before I trusted anything from Carbuzz and an anonymous spokeswoman. Even if it actually is precautionary I think dismissing this info is a disservice to this community as people should be informed of what may or may not arrive with their 2023 Ford Maverick. Lastly, Tim has helped so many people in this community and has provided a ton of information to the community when Ford Corporate would not so of course I appreciate what he has to say.

Okay so you're just trolling now?
Pretty sure you're the only troll here discounting what Tim has to say to the community when he has helped this community way more than Ford corporate or any single person on this site.

Please stop trolling.

As I stated previously, you're defending Tim when he's not being questioned let alone attacked.

What are you trying to accomplish here??
Ford Maverick 2023 XL and XLT Mavericks will now get one function key and one depopulated key you-keep-using-that-word

Thankful for the ignore function here
