You know only the lariat gets sync3 and the only thing I see wrong with our 8” screen is it looks unfinished like they forgot something when designing it, but I have no need for bigger screen as it’s either radio or google maps through my phone. Sorry I’m not complaining about my small screen in my small truck - bigger isn’t always better 😉

Keep in mind, this truck was designed for fleet use. XLT and Lariat packages were to appeal to non fleet buyers along with some private purchase XL owners. As such the center screen is more than adequate for fleet use. Me personally I will be in this vehicle about 18 miles a day total 9 miles each way 2 and from work. Thats about 15-20 minutes each way. As you can see, I dont spend a lot of time in my commuter. Most of the time on my drive to work i am talking to my 80 year old folks on the phone who are 2,000 miles away. Can the maverick do a hands free call? I'm betting it can. Can it do google maps? Yes it can. Can it play my pandora? Yes it can. That is about all I require of it. To that end along with 95% of the other buyers of this truck, the screen size and its functions are enough for their needs. And the "useless" cubby, it looks like plenty of people have found neat DIY solutions.

If you could get the wider display for $1000 or $1500 would you?
Definitely no. Not just for that. Would it give me more info about the truck, maybe.

I'm gonna stir the pot a little bit :)
  • Ford will upgrade the stock 8" display to the 13.2" display in the base Escape for $995. It requires "Tech Pack #1"

  • "Tech Pack #1" also includes Co-pilot 360Assist+, which costs maverick owners $750.

  • For the extra $245, I would gladly upgrade!
Now that I would have done!

Watch Ford come out with a King Ranch "Junior" package and stick it in that. 2 tone paint, King Ranch Junior badges, with "real leather" , chrome grill bar, special chrome rims. this time. Buy in price without ADM would be $50K. This will be marketed for the urban cowboy who lives in their New york brownstone, yet wears a Stetson on their head, and some Tony Lamas , or James Leddys on their feet.

That's on the Active trim which isn't the Base, though. So add an extra $1345.

I'm genuinely scratching my head about why Ford didn't raise Maverick prices more. The market will bear it. Corporations aren't altruistic. But Ford seems to be acting that way. It's a genuine puzzle. It seems like they could move all the Mavericks they want for another $2,000 each on the bottom line.
It was a new entry into the truck market. Everyone wants big and bigger. To appeal to the masses the pricing had to be the reason people would buy the truck. And it was. There's really no other vehicle on the market that will give you as many features as the Maverick for the same price. I was totally OK flipping my Lariat for some profit, but I couldn't find a suitable replacement with Lane centering, heated everything, etc for 35K. You had to go into a $40K+ vehicle.

We purchased a similarly equipped Escape earlier this year. Ford was discounting them and 0%. It still cost more than the Maverick. IMO, it has a slightly nicer interior than the Maverick. I couldn't understand how the Maverick was cheaper even though it was basically the same. Now they are $2-2.5K more which puts it more in line with the Escapes pricing.

Any now they have the Tremor package. A loaded Lariat is probably over 40K now with that package. Next year they will have another package for another 4K. Pretty soon this will be a $50K truck with some more options.

Please Lord tell me you're joking! Ordering a King Ranch trim Maverick should put you on a blacklist for buying any truck... Ever

The only big screen I care about in the in the interior is the windshield. I don't need a TV mounted to my dash to bark out GPS alerts and choose Spotify stations.

Would you really want to lose all that valuable storage space the cubby provides??? :ROFLMAO:

Actually, I would.............................;)
I have a magnet mount in the cubby to hold my phone. I actually prefer it up there. The larger screen in the Escape doesn't provide more screen on Android Auto. I think it's still a split screen with useless info on the on the right side.

I drive a 2019 escape for work. It has the same size screen as the maverick. And to be honest except for backing up I don't think I could possibly care any less about the screen size as long as it does it's job.

It's not like it plays movies or video games. Its basically a display only.

There is a recent video showing the disassembly of the head unit. It seems to be a plug and play.
Interesting. If so, swapping out could be simpler than expected.
