Adding Apps to Display Screen

Hello, I have an Android phone and can't figure out how to add apps to my display screen? It is plugged into the USB and when I hit the Apps Icon on the screen it says NO APPS FOUND? How do I or can I put apps on the display screen? Any help/ advice is much appreciated

No app needed. You need to use Android auto. Make sure it is on your phone and enabled.
