Well on the way home today a lady lost control and Spun out in the middle lane then shot in front of me, hit the wall and I had no choice but to hit them at 65mph. Heavy traffic and a wall on one side meant slam on the brakes and brace for impact. So bummed that I’m losing all the work I’ve put into it in the last couple months. Not sure what to do next since I can’t even order a new one in til next year.

Poor one out for me boys

Unfortunately the same thing happened to me last week... My insurance is telling me it's totaled I love my truck and I don't know what to do next. To make it worse it's my first accident ever so there's an extra layer of misery to ruin my baby

I read the other day that a little over 20 percent of persons experiencing the air bag explosion up-close-and-personal experience some hearing problems. If you note anything with your hearing, including ringing in your ears, go see an ENT doctor. My boy is on steroids for ringing in his ears, five weeks after an air bag experience.

Sorry for your loss; I usuallly save that for funerals but it works here also.

Just curious as to what the steroids are supposed to do for ringing in the ears? Maybe your son's ear drums were damaged from the air bag deploying? I've been dealing with ringing in my ears for months now but mine just kind of came out of nowhere. My doctor tells me there's really nothing I can do and it may go away on it's own and it may not. Your post caught my eye (ear, lol) and thought I would inquire

Please feel free to delay accepting the insurance company's first and second (and third) offers. Don't settle the medical part at all until you at least have a conversation with your healthcare people, and confirm that there are no long-term effects. Really, you'd be surprised how long you can get away with saying, "That doesn't seem like enough compensation, under the circumstances."

OP, glad to read that you're ok!

That looked like a beauty, and very similar to my order that I'm waiting on - A white Lariat hybrid with the lux and 360 assist packages, moonroof, etc.

I hope that you can replace it with something. Does your insurance have a new car replacement benefit? Some will offer that if your vehicle is less than a year old, might be worth looking into.

Can you comment on the automatic emergency braking or pre-collision assist? Did they go off, did the truck warn you, did it slam on the brakes faster than you could have and pre-tension the seatbelts, etc?

I honestly don’t remember, I think I hit the brakes first. It all happen so fast, and I watched it all happen. Remember hitting the brakes And then watching the hood crunch and feeling the entire truck off the ground before it came back down and shit went flying. Very grateful for the KNEE airbag, I have a feeling my legs would have been much worse off without it.

Agreed 100%. I’m ready for the battle when it comes to value and there will be some other compensation as well with having to miss work for the next few days and a visit to my doctor to make sure everything is ok. Not out to get rich I just want to make sure I’m able to replace the truck and not have to pay shunting out of pocket for this. Will be interesting I’m sure.
Going to have to call the police tomorrow to get her information, she was taken away in the ambulance before I got out of the ambulance they had me in getting checked out.
