Not being a Smarty Pants but in today's World what you want and what you get are two different things. That is why I downgraded from an XLT Hybrid to an XL Hybrid with only Co-Pilot 360 and a hitch during the Conversion from MY22 to MY23. Now I understand that the Hitch/Receiver is a Supply Constraint for the XL only. Ford wants you to spend more money to get a hitch? And the aftermarket bolt on hitches are not as good and more expensive. So I am hanging in there as well.
By downgrading to an XL during your rollover to MY23, you just got significantly more constrained. XL will account for only 15% of Maverick builds while XLT will make up 59%.

You had much better chances keeping with the XLT.

But ford has shown time and time again that everything is subject to change. I see absolutely zero downside to placing a new order in case 22 gets nixed.
People with VINs didn't get private offer discount. Right before 2023 banks opened I called because I hadn't received private off and found out i had a VIN and was scheduled (which has since moved from 10/31 to 11/7 to 11/14). All along the statement was made that if you have a VIN you will get built so why would we order a 2023 at higher $$ amount.

You had much better chances keeping with the XLT.
If the order ratios I've seen here are any indicator, it won't be a problem. XLs were around 18% of the orders placed here.

How are you not understanding this? "All along" the statement was a lot of things, many of which were altered. If I had a VIN for an unbuilt 22, I would have placed an order for a 23 just in case they do not end up building my 22. The point here is that there is zero cost or harm placing the order for the 23, and a non-zero chance of the 22 getting canceled.

So, my arument in favor of placing a backup order is "costs nothing/will help if 22 gets canceled." What is your argument for not doing so?

- The only "remaining 22 orders" are those that have VIN#s and they will be made.
I don't understand the inclination of so many doom and gloom pessimists on this forum.
Now, seeing many reports of people having their build date moved 9 (NINE!) times, and now their 22 is not going to be built, now do you understand some of the doom and/or gloom?

Posted on Facebook, here is the memo regarding the 22 MY cancellations in December. Before anyone says source, this a trusted dealer on Facebook.


INFORMATION 22MY Maverick Hybrid Order Cancellations
ACTION REQUESTED
  • Certain scheduled 22MY Maverick Hybrid orders will need to be cancelled due to supplier shortages at 22MY Balance Out.
  • Affected 22MY Stock and Retail orders have had their scheduled build date pushed to December 12th and will eventually be cancelled by Ford Motor Company. All allocation will be returned to the affected dealers for 23MY production.
  • Be aware that Ford is working on a solution to transfer cancelled retail orders over to 23MY and will provide additional updates and instructions at a future date.
SUMMARY We will be required to submit cancellations on certain scheduled 22MY Maverick Hybrid orders due to supplier shortages at the 22MY Balance Out. Primarily retail orders will be impacted by these balance out cancellations. Your Sales and Inventory teams will provide a list of each dealer’s impacted orders.
All allocation will be returned to the affected dealers as 23MY allocation in the coming wholesales. This replacement allocation will likely be provided over several months – not all at once.
Ford is working on a solution to automatically transfer over these 22MY cancelled orders to 23MY on the dealers’ behalf. When these orders are transferred to 23MY, we will plan to prioritize them ahead of other 23MY Hybrid orders pending other commodities restrictions. A future communication will be provided when we have final instructions on moving these orders to 23MY with any additional actions required.
TIMELINE AND KEY DATES
  • October 16: Affected 22MY Maverick Hybrid orders moved to December 12th build week
  • TBD: Affected 22MY Maverick Hybrid orders transferred to 23MY order bank and cancelled on the dealers’ behalf
  • Late October: Follow-up communication provided with additional actions/next steps

Price Protection and Incentive Protection details will be communicated at a later date.
