I understand better what you are thinking however, there are no MY22 waiting to be built due to constraints. The only MY22s remaining have VINs and have no constraints. Delays are due to newly discovered recall issues.

What newly discovered recalls? If you're talking about builds that have "in production" for months and aren't built yet, perhaps. But the recalls are otherwise mostly fixed on trucks built after the first week in September.

My understanding is they are all resolved as all vehicles identified were already out the door. Even the airbag thing ended in July.

But I'm an IT project manager. I just know how things work in a manufacturing facility in theory. In practice, I have no idea what Ford is doing and am just speculating along with the rest of you. Computer programs are easier to prioritize.

The core question is how would canceling any orders rather than postponing them help the issue?

If Ford cancels trucks for those of us with VINs who have been waiting to be built I will of course be livid. As an earlier poster noted, such a scenario will be even more disgusting when you consider the fact they'll just begin producing 23s with the same specs. So how does it make any sense?!?!?

Oh, and unlike Transit and Escape, you CAN'T order a 23 Maverick anymore. So would Ford take someone with a VIN since summer and just tell them they aren't getting a truck at all? Ridiculous!

How would it not? Ford has obviously already postponed the start of MY23. Ford could end up with the opposite problem where they have a backlog of parts ready to go for MY23 but can't do anything with them because the MY22 are in the way. Since we don't have a breakdown of the orders being pushed back, we don't know why Ford is pushing those specific orders back. Ford made 10,000 of the things in September and there has been no news the factory has shut down. Someone has been getting a truck.

Based on what, exactly? Unless there is some state law I am unaware of, until you sign the papers at delivery, you have no legal claim to the vehicle. All Ford given you is a promise to sell you a specific vehicle and, based on the experiences posted here, a loose promise at that given that Ford doesn't actually sell you anything; you buy it from the dealer.

For the record, I don't either. I just wish people wouldn't think a billion-dollar corporation will put altruism over their bottom line. Ford will do what makes the most sense for Ford, whether that is building MY22 in March of 2023 or cancelling them.

Instead of cancelling us I think it's more likely we'd get converted. The question for that is: Do we go to the front or the end of the line. With the '23 production start moving to mid December it's more likely I'll get built but after a year of waiting (as of 10-21-21) we'll see. My schedule date of 11-14 has been holding steady. The wait has been a killer and it's worse here at the end.

I had broached the subject of putting in an order for a 2023 with my salesman, just to be sure to get one at all. I opted not to do it. When I got my VIN, I've been assured that my 2022 VB XLT Hybrid will be built, so I was glad I put the idea to rest while I waited for the window sticker and build date. Now this bit of news regarding other models comes along.

Please chime in @fordvideoguy and tell us what you think about this and our options should we get dumped. Thanks in advance

My XLT Hybrid's build date keeps changing. Now I'm at Nov. 7th. I cringe if it changes again and now I really wonder if delivery will actually be in this current calendar year? Not having warm fuzzies on this.

There is no official word, yet, that Ford will be canceling some of the remaining 22 Maverick orders, but I thought that I would share that this week ford announced that they would be canceling some of the Escape and Transit Connect.

And today, 10/14, they announced the same for Escape.

Are there going to be more cancellations? I don't know. All I know is that this sucks.

I do not understand. If you hD an unscheduled MY 2022 order it should have been rolled to a MY23 order by now.

Not being a Smarty Pants but in today's World what you want and what you get are two different things. That is why I downgraded from an XLT Hybrid to an XL Hybrid with only Co-Pilot 360 and a hitch during the Conversion from MY22 to MY23. Now I understand that the Hitch/Receiver is a Supply Constraint for the XL only. Ford wants you to spend more money to get a hitch? And the aftermarket bolt on hitches are not as good and more expensive. So I am hanging in there as well.
