My maverick came in and the dealer offered me 2k to walk away from the truck so they can resell it for more. They aren't adding anything on to the MSRP on me. And I have to wait for Ford to release the recall for the brake lights so I can take it home. I'm not going to walk away. Just wondering what some of your thoughts were??

Ask for the current market value of the car (the price people are selling it used) and have them pay the difference

Sounds about right for a lot of dealerships out there lol. Just out of curiosity, I grabbed an estimate on what Carvana would pay me for my Maverick if I had it in hand and the figure was a couple thousand higher than I'm paying Ford.

Hit them with the $5K ABM - adjusted buyer's mark-up

Definitely speaks of a revolutionary trend in the automobile business and specifically for the Maverick. Everyone wants one.

Our dealership offered us $5k when we picked ours up in May (we payed MSRP minus some rebates, $24,220 OTD). We are glad we kept the truck, $29k doesn't buy us a comparable alternative in this insane market.

Can you describe your desires more? If you actually want the truck, 2k is not worth walking away. There isn’t another equivalent truck in the market at this price for this year or next, probably ever really with the way the market is inflating wildly beyond economist expectations.

I wasn't going to walk away, I waited 10 months. I was just curious if this has happened to anyone else or what people thought.

What's there to think? Do you want to purchase the Maverick at MSRP, or do you want to walk away with $2k and no new vehicle?

If you do want a Maverick now, then you're going to end up paying at least $2k more for it.

I think it's a reflection on the dealership being honest that they offered you $2K cash to not take the vehicle as opposed to telling you that your vehicle was going to be marked up $2K - or more - to you.

If you don't really need or want the truck it's an easy $2k in your pocket. If you want or need the truck and can buy it for MSRP you should definitely do so. As others pointed out you won't find anything comparable at MSRP for sale elsewhere.

Gotta give the dealer some credit for the straight-up offer. Better than them trying to pull some of the other underhanded tactics to make you walk away.

More than likely they'll sell it for a steep markup such as $10-15K over, easily. Just looking at used ones with either low or higher miles, $23,000 XLs are selling between $31-35K, $27,000 XLTs are selling between $35-39K and $32,000 Lariats are selling between $40-49K. It's insanity, and yet car values are dropping supposedly. Not for the Mavericks right now. Probably not ever since it's a class of vehicle that's been gone for years that people have been craving for. So there will always be a market for them for years to come.

I would consider yourself lucky to "only" pay sticker which is better than a markup like virtually every other dealership out there. I would take the Maverick. You'll regret it considering you can't order a '23 anymore to replace it.

Ask them what a serious offer would be given the current market, even if you don't intend to take it, I am curious to see how high they go.

I heard people suggest asking to be paid off to not buy, but your the first I have heard who actually has a chance to. Don't blame you for saying no either, 2k isn't a big enough bump to get you in a bigger more expensive truck. 5k plus would have to get anyone to give it a consideration.

Hope you ordered a '23 there, maybe a payday for you next year :ROFLMAO:
