My maverick came in and the dealer offered me 2k to walk away from the truck so they can resell it for more. They aren't adding anything on to the MSRP on me. And I have to wait for Ford to release the recall for the brake lights so I can take it home. I'm not going to walk away. Just wondering what some of your thoughts were??
Don't take anything for less than 6K !!!

and you can thank me later :)

Their offer is a joke.

Carvana is currently offering me as of 10/15/2022 $6,036 over my total out-the-door price of $26,068 on my Maverick XLT Hybrid with 5,619 miles on it. Or $7,484 over MSRP of $24,620.

Hell yes I would take it and my deposit back and roll over to the nearest Chevy dealer and buy a Colorado.

I really would like to have the Maverick but Ford is so screwed up right now, I might be better off letting them have it and make some money.

You're crazy if you think the dealer's offer is a joke. They are offering a person 2k to literally not buy something. They wouldn't offer the 6k you are suggesting... Then they don't make anything. Do you not know how selling things and making profits work? Really refreshing to see the dealer be this honest.

If I was on the fence between 2 vehicles this may be an interesting situation. But as stated if the heart is set on Maverick then buy the thing.

More than likely they'll sell it for a steep markup such as $10-15K over, easily. Just looking at used ones with either low or higher miles, $23,000 XLs are selling between $31-35K, $27,000 XLTs are selling between $35-39K and $32,000 Lariats are selling between $40-49K. It's insanity, and yet car values are dropping supposedly. Not for the Mavericks right now. Probably not ever since it's a class of vehicle that's been gone for years that people have been craving for. So there will always be a market for them for years to come.

I would consider yourself lucky to "only" pay sticker which is better than a markup like virtually every other dealership out there. I would take the Maverick. You'll regret it considering you can't order a '23 anymore to replace it.
USED car values are dropping, they say new cars are still increasing.

5k plus would have to get anyone to give it a consideration.
That's exactly what we were offered. My wife looked immediately at me, and said "nope". Pretty sure we could get more from Carvana right now, with nearly 4k miles on the odometer.

I second that $2,000 is a joke. $7,500 minimum and that's if you don't want the truck.

@huunvubu literally posted receipts and you're asking if he understands the market? He didn't "suggest" $6,000 - he proved what could be made from the truck. And if you think $6,000 means the dealer "won't make anything", I don't think he's the crazy one. They won't make $10,000-$15,000 but they'll make plenty.

They are hit/miss. You can certainly profit off your truck, but you can't replace it at reasonable cost. So my thought is that if I just hate it for whatever reason, I'll probably sell it for profit and buy another Porsche Macan. I know that is a stupid cross-shop, but right now I want one of these two.

Yeah, I have zero interest in selling my truck. The few grand I'd make won't make up for the 13 months I waited, and the 6-10 months more I'd have to wait again. Not to mention the higher prices of the 2023/24's.

Free money. No capital gain because no buy then sell. Take the $2K if you don’t need the Maverick.

It is a capital gain. The accounting dept at the dealer has to 1099 you for payments that exceed $600. Not worth it even at 10k profit because $3-4k of the profit will be taxed as ordinary income on your fed and state tax returns.

You will save a lot more on gas over the years than a short term profit.
