So the Ford F-150 Lightning is no good either?
Depends on your needs. I have a neighbor who ordered one to tow his boat, but he is virtually never towing more than 50 miles. If you are looking to tow anything substantial >100 miles, it would be really inconvenient.

Nope. Definitely a cool truck to tool around town with but with any kind of heavy load / towing you'd better off with the power boost variant. You could pack a few range extenders in the power boost in case you get stuck somewhere a la the Jerry can.

I’ve been to China, ridden in Chinese-made cars, and slept in Chinese-built hotels… Yeah, you couldn’t pay me to buy a Chinese-made vehicle. I wouldn’t even take it for free, as it would probably spontaneously combust in the garage.

hahahahahaahahahahaah, you mean a chinese fiery death trap? pass
There was a time when we scoffed at anything that was labeled "Made in Japan." Then companies like Honda, Sony, Canon, and others gave us products that were superior to many American makes. We didn't take products made in Korea seriously either, and then Kia, Hyundai, and probably the Samsung or other phone you're reading this on was made there. I think it would be a mistake to not take Chinese products seriously. Ford better pay attention to this one.

Just another piece of Chinese junk. No thank you. Just what we need more product infiltration from a communist country.

EVs won't make sense in every market. Part of the reason Ford is rejecting GM's move to go full EV.

Honestly, the industry that makes the most sense to go EV-only is school buses. Drive them for two hours in the morning and park them all day. Drive them two hours in the afternoon and park them all night. Removes a ton of diesel demand and the long periods of non-use is enough that even at low wattage, it is more than enough time to charge them.

EV pickups are terrible for anything that would need a truck. We've seen that from all of the tow and haul testing videos. PHEV would be best for fuel economy and performance when you need it. Drove the Jeep 4xE Wrangler PHEV and that's the way to go.
So you're only half right. For towing they're terrible, but EV trucks can handle hauling things in the bed without a problem.

If you're buying a truck to tow, an EV doesn't work great. But there are a lot of uses for a pickup that don't require towing at all.

That’s a no for me. I bet reading the owners manual would be like most product descriptions on Amazon.

Basic short-distance transportation suits most of my needs. Hence the Maverick Hybrid is my choice. This Radar R6 would likely work fine for me. If you haul trailers, take long trips, or have other special needs, sure, then get something else. But for grocery store, Home Depot, and local in-town runs, an EV like this would work for me and many other suburbanites too I think.

So not buying a fuel-guzzling truck with way more power and capability than I need to make grocery runs and cross-town trip makes me a "virtue signaler?" I think I prefer the label "frugal and environmently-concious suburbanite" thanks. 😄 ✌

If you're interested in this truck, just wait until you can buy one of a dozen knockoffs made on the same production line by the same workers after the line "shuts down" for the night. Surely you'll be able to get it for cheaper. Until we see EVs with ranges in excess of 800-1000 miles they'll be a hard pass for me, and anything designed or made in China on this level of scale and complexity is also a big NO. Imagine sourcing any repair parts or trying to get warranty service...

that said I think we're still in the "barnstorming days" of EVs. I'll wait until we enter the "jet commercial travel age" before I change my mind OR until we have rebuilt a inter-city rail network worth riding on.

If we were worried about our data with Ford imagine what information a Chinese car would collect about us!
MY FIRST THOUGHT!!! You would have to be out of your mind to buy that vehicle. Why make it even easier for the enemy to track you.

The seat has an anal probe and the steering wheel takes a blood sample!

Yeah, that's a HARD pass. I'll spend that kind of money on a North American-built machine.

Maverick Lightning? I'll be putting a deposit down as soon as they allow it.
