EV pickups are terrible for anything that would need a truck. We've seen that from all of the tow and haul testing videos. PHEV would be best for fuel economy and performance when you need it. Drove the Jeep 4xE Wrangler PHEV and that's the way to go.

As much as NIO, Geely, XPeng, and Li Auto are pricing their EV vehicles, this truck will be most likely be in the neighborhood of around $50K-$55K. Just think Lyriq (Cadillac) and Rivian pricing.

The NIO SUVs for those mentioned from China start at over $70K U$D.

If money is no issue or no object, by all means they are affordable, but for most, it will not. The Mav Lightning pricing should not be more than what a Lariat Hybrid fully loaded goes for in 2024. If so, they will not sell many.

Just my 2 cents or 2 yuan.

UPDATE: Apparently it will start at just over $25K.

Here's an article on the pricing ...... I stand corrected.

If we were worried about our data with Ford imagine what information a Chinese car would collect about us!

I think there is a market for a full EV SUV-with-a-bed ala Maverick. But I stand by my position that is has to have 500+ mile range and be price comparable to ICE.

I'm not sure if I can take a Chinese-made pickup seriously, but on the other hand if this company Geely who is apparently now the parent company of Volvo is for real, this little EV pickup could possibly be a Maverick Challenger. What do you think?

And here's some video
A big 'no' for me. China's quality is generally poor and their batteries are really suspect.

If you get one, park it in an asbestos garage (Volvo or no Volvo involvement).

maybe if it said Volvo on it, and had Volvo's gorgeous styling, I'd consider it...

I will say though, the future Maverick EV, provided that Ford gives it a fantastic lightning-like frunk, will be an amazing option. My biggest gripe about a pickup is the lack of a trunk for bags/groceries/clean cargo. The form factor of a truck is kind of a best-case EV in my opinion for pure usability; good people space in the middle between two types of storage compartments for "clean" and "dirty" things. My trips to the hardware store are only about as long as my trips to the grocery store, so the hit in range when hauling something doesn't really matter considering I could just plug it in for a full charge once I get home. A maverick sized EV pickup is a home run in my book, probably not a Chinese one though, honestly.

So the Ford F-150 Lightning is no good either?

When fully loaded or towing a trailer the range goes down to a crazy level- like 100 miles. There are lots of tests out there on video.
That is fine for a truck being used on a job site or a short distance hauler like an automotive parts store delivery vehicle as long as the grid can handle all these trucks being charged overnite. With that said I wouldn't buy an all electric truck as a daily driver if I didn't plan to use it for it's truck like features or couldn't get any realistic driving range out of it and then be down for hours recharging it afterwards. Then again there will be plenty of virtue signalers and people with more money than sense buying these trucks.
