2 streams of thought. 1. They don't want people holding on for months only to be told there is no way it's going to happen. 2. They tell you they are cancelling when they hope it might come in and they could re-sell it. If there are other reasons, I don't know what they would be.
This is a car dealer we are talking about so my money is on the shady stream of thought.

Can the dealership just cancel a customer order? Order submitted Sep 15th with a time stamp of 6:00pm from ford, now how a voicemail from dealer saying order has been canceled (Order Bank now closed!). You can't order direct from Ford so you have to go through a dealer and they can just cancel your order, please tell me this can't happen..

did you have a 2022 order at this same dealer? perhaps the '22 was canceled and your '23 is still open.

A dealer can always cancel an order… but why in the world would they? I’d be up there in their face demanding answers. Ford themselves don’t cancel orders, that’s all on the dealer.

Even if your order wasn’t even going to be fulfilled, what is the harm in keeping it in the system? It is a retail order, it doesn’t take up ”stock” from them. And, if you end up flaking, they are free to sell it.

Truly baffling that they’d cancel an order… it is only upside for them.
My dealer also supposedly cancelled my Oct 9 2021 order 8 months in. Now I probably can’t get the $2750 private offer money. I’m still asking.

Do you have your Preview Order by any chance? It'll show your Sales Code and Order Code (Dealer Number) - in green circles, below.

If you do, call Ford Marketing @ 800-334-4375 and ask about your order. They will know if it is actually cancelled. They will want the email address you used for your order.

I have heard of dealers saying the order is cancelled but they keep it for themselves to sell at a markup.

Just curious but did you put a deposit? Where you told it would be sold to you at MSRP?

I hate to think you have a dishonest dealer but they are out there. Good luck!

Sorry to read of your misfortune. This is the reason some of us place several orders with more than one dealer. Desperate times, call for desperate measures. I hope it all works out in your favor. My motto, eat or be eaten.

Sorry to hear that. It's some bullshit if dealers can just cancel your order on a whim. I will call Ford directly today and see if there's a solution to this problem.

I was only successful in getting an investigation ticket number by sending in a request to ford via Facebook messenger. You might try that. I’ve had no success with the call in numbers to ford. With that said, Ford never followed up on my investigation. I think they just provided the number to pacify me. They said someone would contact me but they never did. Ford eventually just stop replying to my requests for status. When you have a legitimate significant complaint and are looking for a correction, Ford doesn’t seem to have a mechanism for that. They want us to rely on the dealers, but when the dealer is inept or questionable there is no help their either.

Maverick will never show up in the Ford Pass account. As I understand it, the only vehicle that currently will show up there is the Mach E.

Curious, Did you have an order number? I contacted Ford, but they said they needed the order number to check the status of the order and of course I have crickets from the dealership. Is there an alternate way to get the order number?

No there's not. You will need that info from the dealership.

Remember, it is the dealership that orders the vehicle from Ford, not you/the customer.
They can cancel an order if they want.... But there really is no good reason for them to do so.
If they made a mistake, they should own up to it and try to help you out!

Don't think this is correct. My Maverick is scheduled for week of 11/7 production. I got my VIN # on September 2nd, and was able to put it into my FORD PASS account the same day. Obviously I cannot do anything with it as it hasn't been built yet, but is does show up in the app.

You can add it yourself once you have a VIN. But @JohnHartshorn is correct when they say that your Maverick ORDER will never show up on its own in your Ford.com account. It takes action by you to add it. And before you have a VIN, there is no way to add it.
