Has anyone considered installing a voltage meter for the big battery?

I wanted one for the regular battery to detect when its not charging. Would be nice to have both

But these meters themselves pull mA of current so they need to disconnect after some time as they themselves will drain the battery, Even the self disconnect types uses uA of current when off.

I don’t claim to know much about electric but could you do it thru the ignition circuit so it would be OFF completely?

I don't know much either. But...

I believe there are multiple of step-down conversions of DC voltage from the hv battery pack to different system components. And then also transformation (inversion?) of DC to AC current for the electric motor stators. Are you just out of pure curiousity interested in seeing how much voltage is being pushed out of/into the hvb pack itself at any time? Or are you asking about some component in particular?

Really just the overall level of charge in the battery . It would also guide one as to how quickly a full charged is reached . I do notice the blue rectangle getting shorter as the availability of the Motor is restricted and eventually not available at all.

Can’t you get an app that connects to obd that shows all that stuff?

I would think you would want a amp/amphour meter if you want to know what the capacity of the battery is at any given time.

It wouldnt be difficult at all to install, just better know what you are doing and have some high voltage resistant gloves. These electric vehicle technology is not like the ICE tech. A discharge of the HVB would definitely be in store. There would be grave consequences for the person who tried to redneck engineer anything on the hybrids. I get nervous just getting close to the orange cables.

Yes. And I have. But it is digital data, and that has to be converted to human interface. I got a ScanGaugeIII.

In general, a voltage meter doesn't tell you the charge of lithium batteries. The voltage stays constant up until about discharge. In other applications I have seem meters that measure the charge going in and the charge going out. I have only seen this used on much smaller (safer) batteries.

I use an obd2 adapter with torque pro to get this info. The Android adapter was $12 and the app was $5

I hope this helps.

I'm getting 220v nominal for the HVB.

Goes down a few while accelerating. Goes up a few while charging or regenerating.

Is this on your phone? Is there an apple app that would do the same thing? Is this wireless?

Sorry for all the q's!

I figured out how to cast it from my phone to the screen. So, I plug the adapter into the obd2 spot( drivers side under dash). The adapter connects via Bluetooth to my phone. I plug my phone into the radio via USB.

I don't have any idea how or if it's possible to do that from iphone.

Here's the apple app:

I hope this helps.
