I agree. And I'll call out a few things that grind my fucking gears.

1. The FX4 tires are 100% trash. You also cannot get the 235 tires on the FX4 wheel...what?!?!

2. The lack of a black interior on the Lariat is unacceptable.

3. No rear defrost. Seriously? What year is it? Not even on a Lariat...

4. I've ordered a 36k Lariat and just recently realized I will not be getting a fullsize spare, while a cheaper hybrid will.

So...

The upgrade to the Ecoboost? No fullsize spare.

The upgrade to AWD? No fullsize spare.

The upgrade to FX4? No fullsize spare.

The upgrade to the Lux package? You guessed it! No fullsize spare.

Unacceptable.

The longer I wait for my order, the more I want to not buy.
I selected Full Size spare for $115.00 on B&P configurator. It was REALLY hard, and almost broke the bank too:rolleyes: I just hope I survive the trauma of it all. Maybe we can form a "no full size spare" support group to help everyone deal with this life altering crisis

Your signature has way too many options to price out @ 21.5k :)
yep And that is why both those loaded my way come in at $28000; try that with the competition.....that’s where a Santa Cruz cost SEL AWD starts with no other addons and your lucky to get 21mpg in the city

They should be earning my business, not depending on my sense of gratitude.
We may feel that way about it, but that's probably not how Ford sees it.

They want to earn business, but not necessarily your business.** They want to fashion the net to catch as many customers as they want and keep those customers coming in. If they are able to do that, the fact that some people aren't happy and slip out of the net is not really a problem.

** Obviously, I don't mean you specifically.

I didn't end up getting a full size spare because I switched to EB from hybrid and forgot that the spare was a separate add on once you did that. By the time I realized my mistake a couple days later, I'd already got pulled for a build.

I'm not bitching or whining. I don't think Ford is a big meany nor do I think anyone should be burned at this stake for this.
But Ford's approach to the full size spare is still silly as fuck and mildly annoying.

While some folks fail to realize this, those two viewpoints are NOT mutually exclusive.

There is WAY more demand than supply, and that is not changing for the foreseeable future. I don't think Ford is too concerned about earning OP's (or any individual's) business at the moment.

This is the stupidest rant thread ever. Don't like it? Nobody's forcing a gun on your head to buy it. Get something else that's sitting on a lot somewhere.

The debate over the full size spare tire boggles my mind. Probably one of the cheapest things you can get for your vehicle. Suck it up and add it on. What is it, less than $2/month as part of your payment? Yes, it sucks to have to add on. Every car I had since I got my license in the late 90s included a spare. Then with my last car (Chevy Spark) I had no idea a spare wasn't included until I got a flat and opened my hatchback to find an empty wheel compartment and a stupid tire inflation kit. My buddy owns a tire shop and I bought a used tire and got a new full size spare wheel on ebay.

Keep me in mind if you're looking for a matching full size spare, I upgraded to the black painted wheel (as shown in my avatar) on the Lariat Hybrid but chances are I'm getting new shoes once the truck arrives.

One thing I likely can't get on ebay is the rear window defogger which, until this thread, I had no idea wasn't included in any version of the Maverick. That's a huge blunder by Ford, in my opinion. I'm gonna have to do all sorts of RainX/anti-fog type shit to my rear window if I plan on staying in South Florida.

You can trivialize this issue as much as you want. I will not choose to do so.

This packaging decision is plain stupid.

I see the impatient haters here bashing on Ford for constraints and wait times. I also see the Fanboys singing Fords praise for anything they do, even while people have been waiting well over a year for Broncos, 100k plus F-150s sitting in storage lots waiting on chips and watching as Ford has more and more supply problems well documented in the mainstream news with many of their vehicles with no clear answer or solution.

I get the supply problems on this and other items. What I don't often get is the response and answers from Ford and some of the fanboys. I think Ford has a hit truck on their hands with this Maverick, but I think they also may have rushed out some things too soon and not offered different choices and solutions to some of the problems they are now facing.

What I CANNOT stand is people that keep bringing up the "What do you want or expect from a $20k truck", any time Ford is called to task or we ask why certain options are not available on this truck. I ordered a $28k XL and cant get a stand alone cruise control. My friend ordered a $33k XLT and couldn't get a Sirius radio. Lack of a black leather choice in a $37k Lariat. Constraints on items that could be completed later after the purchase by the dealer instead of holding up an order indefinitely. Can we still use the "what do you expect for a $20k truck excuse when addressing any complaint"? I understand that I bought a truck from the cheaper end of their line, but I didn't buy the bottom of the barrel FWD base model.

The price range on these Mavericks go from $20k up to about $40k. That is a huge swing. In my case, my build is just over $28k. That no longer qualifies my truck as a $20k truck, at least in my mind. Very few people are buying the base model with no options. I would venture a guess the average build is somewhere around $28k. I think people who are paying this much have the right to gripe or talk about without hearing the "what do you expect for a $20k truck comment. If you want to bitch about people complaining that's fine, just don't use the $20k truck argument.

I also think more constraints are going to keep coming, I hope I'm wrong. I am not one of those constantly complaining here every 5 minutes, but I'm afraid that while someone decides to patiently wait for an item on constraint, another will pop up a month or two further down the line, further delaying the order.

As a side note, I will go on the record saying the next constraint will be a sun roof...

Rant over...
You make a good argument to short Ford stock.

I'll tell you what stupid is. That's having a car with run flat tires and no spare at all. You can't repair them most of the time, they are expensive to replace and they are often hard to find outside of bigger markets. When i ordered the Maverick, one of the first things i did was to be sure it had a full size spare (and a jack)!

So you want to start name calling?

Get this....THIS TRUCK IS NOT IN PRODUCTION YET! Flat out nothing else is going to matter. Either sit tight or move on.

Exactly but I think the point is why is the hybrid getting it almost free with any package but not a single packaged option on any EB ?
It is highly likely the hybrid is receiving the FS spare due to some sort of drivetrain requirement related to being a hybrid. Of course yes I am speculating, we all are - but I am sure Ford didn't sit around and say hey, we know this is base cost engine and all, maybe we should throw them a bone with the FS spare?

And then on the 2.0 side take it away purposefully...

Now, I almost missed adding the FS spare as well - it is definitely NOT clear in the descriptions when it is/is not included - at the very least it is not explicitly stated. Could they have done that better? yes. Could they have simply included it in the higher trims and added the $115 into the trim/engine cost? sure. Perhaps there are other constraints we don't know of as well. Perhaps they have a bunch of donuts laying around they want to use up! The bottom line is we aren't the company, accept it, say our peace, move on, etc. The sky isn't falling over this!

I think the ā€˜full size’ spare hybrid on the hybrid is actually a smaller diameter tire. With AWD you need all 4 tires to have the same overall diameter. This is likely why it’s not offered with the AWDs unless you’re willing to pay the additional cost.

Interesting point. This will be my first hybrid. Those that have had hybrids in the past (seen a few of you on here in different threads), what was the spare situation?

I’ve had to have runflats on my MINIs. I never understood those who had them and took of the runflat and relied on a slime bottle but many did. Don’t remember on my Lexus but it had different sizes on front and back.
