Will Ford increase production of Mavericks?

Yep, most likely. A full EV Maverick is also a possibility but not sure when. If plug in was available that is what I would have bought. I can take or leave AWD but would really love to have the plug in.

I think the reason for splitting is more market related. They see the valuations that pure EV companies like Tesla are getting and they realize old stodgy Ford will never get there. Splitting the business could help them unlock that value.

Yep, that is also likely a factor. I doubt any decision of that magnitude has only one purpose. Business as usual is just not going to cut it over the next 20 years. Adapt or die.

Part and supplies shortages happen. Dealing with a ever changing situation in parts procurement does not mean they did it on purpose. Your assuming they did it knowing all along they weren't going to build those. That's makes zero sense as it gains them nothing in the short and long term.

For 2022 model year, Ford sold out (well over sold) its production capacity and stopped orders about 6 months into the year. Much less than that for hybrids.

For 2023 model year it appears they might sell out the full year's production in less than 2 weeks.

So will they (can they?) increase production for this year?

Jim Farley has been spending all week tweeting about how awesome the new Mustang is. When he gets done with that maybe he should look into the vehicle that sold out in 2 weeks.....................

If I'm not mistaken, Ford is going to sell out of what they had set aside specifically for retail orders in less than a week. Once those are moving, then dealers can start ordering stock inventories. So, Ford wants to sell every truck they can make and if they could do so and double production at the same time, they would in a heartbeat. But I think Ford is taking the right approach on the retail orders. Get those in, lick your wounds, and then tell dealers what is left over for stock orders.

Has Ford said they won't? Don't forget, those constraint items haven't gone away. I do wish they would be more open about it all though, IE what and how many were rolled over and what were the constraint items? That sort of statement would at least make them seem more human. In my company, albeit small, that has been number one through all these pandemic times, be open and forthright. Works wonders for relationships.

I believe that Ford is producing 2022 Mavericks till November 2022 and trying to fill the old sales as quickly as possible. Any unmanufactured 22 orders will shift to 2023 model deliveries until all previous 2022 orders are filled even if they are filled as new 23 models. (Ie they are just rolling over the old orders into new model deliverys) I'm unclear as to the amount of unfilled 2022 orders are at this time. Ford has announced the construction of a new Ford mfg facility in Hermosa, Mexico to manufacture Mavericks. Unsure when that production will begin. I'm hoping my order will not be the first outta that facility!!

Ford lost a lot of money paying price protection and special offers so I am sure they are trying to avoid getting into that situation again.

It would make a lot of sense to cut off orders when they have taken orders for six months production so that they can do a mid year price increase for inflation then open up the order book again if they need to.

They've already avoided that by stating it out of the gate (in dealer communication) that there explicitly will be no MY'23 to MY'24 price protection.

Because EV's are the future, not the present. Ford (plus GM and everyone else) have massive battery plants under construction. Seems they will be coming on line in 2024 or 2025. So expect to see EV's become more available and prices moderate in 2025 and 2026. Until then they keep building ICE engines.

A guy I work with says some parts of the country can not produce enough electricity to handle much of an increase in electric car production. Says we would need a lot of new power plants. Have no idea if that is true. I will be very happy when my self-charging hybrids arrive and I start getting 40-50 mpg. Have no interest in having to charge anything. I have had my 2012 Chevy Colorado for 11 years and plan on keeping my 2022 hybrid near as long, maybe longer.

If the future is EV why don't they just cancel the Ecoboost and focus on the hybrid.
