I looked through my paperwork, I could not find one signed by the dealer. Which leads me to believe they had no intention of delivering to me?? How incredibly sick is that to string me along for almost a year!?
This unsigned DORA is all most of us got when placing our order. While not binding the intent is to order and sell to that person. Who knows their original intention but an unsigned DORA doesn't necessarily mean they never planned to sell it to you...

Thanks everyone. I have got the ball rolling with Ford Corporate. The AG and the BBB will be contacted next. As for the dealership, my feeling is they have totally destroyed any possible business relationship we me and I will not deal with them any further. There are many other Ford dealers in the southern NH area as other posters have indicated. Market conditions have really emboldened dealers(who have always had questionable sales practices). I can only hope some balance returns. Anyone still waiting though I would definitely call, especially if you ordered from Auto Fair!
Hey CD, please put this dealership on this Reddit Dealership Integrity Map as well. It'll help others avoid the scumbags.

Good luck with your efforts. Just don't stop or they'll continue to do this to others.

That's a DORA, not the same as a purchase agreement. Basically this gets the dealer in trouble with ford. It doesn't legally bind the dealer to sell the vehicle to you IIRC but IANAL.

At this point your only viable option is this: make a stink. Local news, the BBB etc., as was previously suggested might help ramp up the pressure particularly if you name names. Your best venue would be ford itself. Include copies and send a snail mail letter to their customer service address and CC the office of the president.

The real question is what they can do for you. Likely the only thing ford corporate can really do is put you back in line for another vehicle, maybe price protect for 22 or something. I'd never do business with that dealer again.

This kind of crap is why Ford set up a separate company for EV's. IMO they are trying to either kill their existing dealer network or force them to knuckle under to a new agreement that gives Ford corporate a lot more control over how they sell cars.

Honestly at this point I'd personally be tired of the whole charade and maybe look at other brands. Don't think I could do another 10 month+ wait.
IMO, they set up a separate company so if the EV side flames out do to all the rosy projections and impossible to meet deadlines for a robust charging network and updated power grids to support full transition to electric vehicles not panning out- they can shutdown the EV side and declare it bankrupt without tanking the whole company. The ICE side will continue to be needed and profitable for many decades regardless of what happens with EV adoption.

That sucks they need to make it right. You can run a Carfax to see when it drove off.
this really needs to be the 1st step before going any further. There's a lot of folks making suggestions and trying to help, but it's all speculation on what happened to OP's ordered vehicle- no proof. Need a factual baseline to work from and as many details as possible to present to any agencies wanting to take up your cause if you are claiming wrongdoing. Proof is essential to prevail. No evidence will unfortunately not force a favorable resolution and could backfire.

Bingo!!! Post of the day!!! This is pretty much the whole EV pipe dream in a nutshell. Gotta hedge your bets.

I can check sale date by the VIN as well if OP wants.

Your word used to mean something. You shouldn't need an attorney to order a car. That being said every attempt should be made to rectify the situation if need be.
There's likely more to this story though. OP is in a bad situation and looking for help- but also may have not understood some things or there's miscommunication somewhere. OP already corrected 1 mistake from original post: thought they had signed purchase contract- but actually only had a DORA with no dealer signature. We haven't seen an email or text stream showing anything underhanded or false/misleading from Dealer either.

I never got my Maverick I ordered. I placed a custom order in Sept '21. I have a signed order agreement, and email trail offering me first right of refusal. They said 12-16 weeks until delivery. 12-16 weeks turned into we don't know when. We'll call you for first right of refusal. The call never came. It would have been nice to review it, but that's not happening. I recommend anyone still waiting CALL every day to you dealer. This whole "ordering" has been so exhausting, so stressful, and I really feel like a fool, like I was scammed. I am totally pissed of at Ford, and my dealer Autofair Ford NH.
If everything that you are saying is true and you are not omitting anything, I would plaster this story over any media outlet that you can use. Send it to the local TV news station. I've done that before and they followed through with the story and the offender squirmed all over Nashville, TN TV.

If nothing else, this thread has forced me to cull through an increasingly thick file to find & pull the copy of the 'New Vehicle Buyer's Order' from my Dealership. All appears to be in order, but appearances can be deceiving!

You're right someones word should mean something, with these guys it seams it doesn't. As far as every attempt to rectify this, that dealer has already said too bad you lose by tha bullcrap appology saying we will try to do better next time. They are not looking to keep him as a customer. That's the only incentive a business would have to rectify an issue.

What you show is not a purchase agreement nor is it signed by the dealership's General Manager so the piece of paper (DORA) is not a valid contract.
What you say i suspect is true - But, there's always a butt, there are many of us first time order/buyers with a Maverick sitting in the garage having nothing more than a DORA. This dealer can CoverHA but its a S* deal for the Mfg and the dealer and the buyer. Plus it doesn't sound like the buyer is just going to walk away, minimum there will be government involvement to some degree.

I second the recommendation to get the state AG in the loop. I have had success in the past in auto purchases gone bad by contacting the home state AG (of where the car was purchased). I was an out of state buyer via the internet, so they even worked in my favor despite not being a tax paying resident of their state. I am confident that the NH state AG may listen to a claim by a home state resident.

While I am definitely not an attorney, it would seem that the original DORA and the email chain from Ford regarding your Maverick order would go some distance regarding fulfilling the basic contract requirements.

Seems like you have legal cause of action here. As long as dealers do not experience legal consequences, mistreatment of customers for profit will continue. (I am not a lawyer.)

My story is similar. In June of 2021 I reserved my Maverick on the Ford Site. Followed it up as per their instruction with the local Dealer "Tamiami Ford" in Naples, Fl where it was specified in my sales order "no modifications.
This order was confirmed to me in a email from Ford. Then followed by the endless month's of delay. Finally, 9 month's later I received the long awaited email from Ford That my order wi CP360 was scheduled for production along with my vin. Then more delays for the build. Then an email from Ford that my vehicle was on the way. At this time my Maverick was shown on the dealer's (Tamiami Ford) WEB site as inventory and offered for sale. I called the dealership with my concern.
Their response from the sales manager responded to my concern not to worry, the vehicle was mine. Finally about seven weeks later the vehicle arrived at the dealership, but I was not notified until days later.
Then I was told that they modified my Maverick without telling me and without my permission. I instructed them to remove the illegal modifications for which they wanted over a thousand dollars.
They refused telling me if I didn't take it they could sell it on the lot for $12,000 more. Tamiami Ford returned my CC deposit and check and sold my Maverick for $7,800 the same day.

In a telephone call to Ford customer relations I was told that they can't do that. As of yet Ford and it's executives have not responded to my emails or letters.
