Look I know there are shady dealers out there. Most are solid and careful about their reps. If this happens do report it. Involve social media and big-name people. Cause them to lose $$$ that is the only way we can get them to stop. I blasted on SM a dealer that was trying to upcharge me for a preorder. Added like $1200 charges for "Market Demand Adjustments" (no crap). After 2 weeks they came back and were willing to shut me up by offering me MSRP, no additional costs.

If you see bad behaviors call them out on SM.

Glad this story hasn't died like I expected it to. There needs to be some penalty for this kind of business practice and if Ford cannot deal the loss of a dealers reputation is better than nothing. I would hope that a loss of allocations from Ford will follow but they would not publicize it.

With this kind of thing happening, and various other assorted questionable practices, I'm actually kind of surprised Ford hasn't added that "vin view" or whatever it's called to consumer's access, once their truck has shipped. An unscrupulous dealer would be less likely to get away with "we never got it" or "we didn't know it was yours" when they know the customer can track it's progress from the plant to their front door, just as well as they can. If it's accessible only with a VIN, what's the harm in giving customers the ability to see that? Especially given that Ford seems to have no appetite for actually disciplining these kinds of dealers, who make such "mistakes" as selling a truck out from under someone.

Chula Vista Ford did that to someone I know too. Was talking to sales people all the way through, they tried to throw in dealer bullshit like overprice nitrogen filled tires, he said that wasn't in the original order that they signed and contacted a manager who took the stuff off for him, and then when it came in he called and they said they were prepping it and would call when it's ready, 2 days later after not hearing anything he called again and they said they thought he didn't want it anymore and had already sold it to someone else.

These San Diego dealerships have had a 'Warning' label on the MTC dealership tracking sheet for a while.

It's interesting to note that seven out of eighteen dealerships in California have a 'Warning' associated with them.
I ended up ordering from Penske Ford now Sedano Ford. I'm roled ovet to MY24. We'll see how all this works out.
