Given the fact I am deaf in one ear and cannot hear out of the other I do believe the XLT stereo will be more than adequate for me. I just hope most of the bugs in the system are worked out by the time I get my truck in a year. Time will tell.

It’s funny to me how people complain about the sound system on the Maverick. I’m 62, and remember when cars had knobs you’d have to turn for volume and tuning in a radio station, and the only speaker was on the dash above the radio, and probably no more that a 3” or 4” diameter at that.

Yep, those complaining would have a field day over the Philco AM "sound system" Ford put in my first Maverick. 😵

I'm 68 and have some hearing loss but it's fine on vol 7. You can adjust sound to front if you need more, but I'm fine with all 4 speakers. No-one said it was high end stereo, but its definitely not bad at all. Not sure what people expect for the price range of this vehicle. I could have got Hundai Tuscon for about $30-40,000 and had better stereo!!! No thanks.
Prior to my Maverick, I had a 2019 Tucson SEL. I had no problem with the stereo in it, but to be honest, I don't think it was any better than the stereo in my XLT. And I have no problems with it. (Age 71 with some hearing loss and lots of tinnitus, by the way.)

Im old, hearing isnt great, but this stereo system in the xlt is terrible.bass and treble act like the more you try to improve it the worse it is.is it the radio or speakers that are the problem or the whole system.music is on a jump drive and sounds alot better on my wifes flex so thats not the problem.this is just terrible 😛
At 68 it sounds great to me stock. No plans on replacing it.Just wish they had rear bumper stem on either side like all other trucks.Plus could be a little lower ,have to lift my bad knee to get in.Getting old is the pits.

That is what the aftermarket is for.

You know what? Those sound systems were terrible. Things have changed. We dug out an old CRT tv and hooked an old vcr up to it. We used to think it was a pretty good combination back in the day.

It was terrible compared to the new high def TVs.

I have some nice 3 way speakers ready to go into my front doors. I don't expect miracles but the stock speaker is basically no different than that speaker in your first maverick - paper cone and tiny magnet. The newer ones really are a lot better.

The real question is "do you need something better?". My hearing is no great shakes but on the drive home the day I picked up my maverick, the sound was noticeably worse than the mazda I traded in. The speakers didn't cost that much and it should be a good project.

Believe @rclee is referring to a separate XM radio device that connects to the truck via Bluetooth. It wouldn't be an app on screen, and it's not built into the truck.

Something like these:

https://shop.siriusxm.com/radios/vehicle/
I also find it strange its not on the screen, as in other recent vehicles. Especially as I looked through manual and other materials and it says you get 2 months free XM and already had it over a month!!! Sure didn't tell me that at dealership! I don't do everything through my phone as it gets hot if you have it running something for hours going down highway. There should be apps on screen. My daughter has XM & Pandora on her 7 yr old Chevy truck that have been onscreen from day one.

Only Lariat with Luxury Package gets Sync 3 with SiriusXM, the manual should specify that's only if equipped with the feature; most don't have it.
