I know I'm late to the party probably, but a tiny bit of construction adhesive on the barrels of the T nuts goes a long way to saving headaches if you ever need to disassemble. I've had a couple spin free in the past and having to remove the bolts then gets much less fun.
Not late to the party but I wish you were... I just haven't had the free time to take it all apart. I might do it tomorrow though and if I do I'll a little adhesive after they're set.

I'm not gonna lie. When I listened to the B&O system in a Lariat Lux Hybrid today, I wasn't impressed. For such an upgrade, it's kind of caca. I will be adding a sub (or 2 if I can) and upgrading the door and dash speakers as my order has the B&O. Will likely sell the B&O stuff I take out to another Maverick owner that wants the upgrades. Don't get me wrong, it's nice, but I've had some super nice and fancy systems in all my rides. I need the clarity and bass so that I can be deaf in a few years when I'm only 35ish 🤣🤣 jk
That makes me sad as that is a huge part of why I got the Lariat Lux. But my Explorer had a 2k Highs and mids system and 4K bass system, so my expectation management is to get poo from a factory installed system anyway. I'm thinking of pulling the storage trays from under the back seat and putting two forward facing 8 inch JL Wsomethings or just be silly and see if 8 inch solo barics would fit xD

It IS a huge part. Paying extra money for something that's subpar sucks

I leased two hyundai hybrids, same model a few years apart. When my base model's lease ended I got a great lease deal on the limited model which had an Infinity sound system with more speakers, a subwoofer and an amp. It sounded like absolute trash compared to the base speaker system. I could not believe how utterly disappointing it was. Never again will I pay for an OEM upgraded stereo system. You want something done right, do it yourself I guess

I really wanna see someone that put a kicker Hideaway or an Alpine PWE-S8 somewhere. My wife won't let me go too crazy and I have no idea how good installers in El Paso are(My usual system guy retired last year from Lafayette Louisiana and now I have no one!).

There have been quite a few that put in the hideaway 8 and 10 under the front seat, rear seats, and behind the rear seat (and there’s plug and play kits out there that make for relatively easy installs)

It's not fun if it's not a challenge. When everything is straightforward and easy there's no room for growth and to improve your skills.

I wanna see some done so I know what to do though! I'm not very in touch with modern day sound systems(My last real build was 2 JL W7 12's with an HD 1200 in 2016).

I'm a helicopter mechanic, I have no skills. No nunchuck skills, bo staff skills, you know the like!

I don’t disagree, but for some that just want to upgrade, those kits will likely be a cheaper route without too much of a challenge for even those who are ā€œall thumbsā€ so to speak

My last build was over 20 years ago, there's parts that really don't change over time, things just get better and smarter.
Back when I was in the game no one would consider keeping a factory system, but that's because there was no need, MAYBE you had steering wheel volume, but that was it. That was a small sacrifice to make to put a real stereo in.

When you get bored with your current set-up, go for a 12" sub behind the seats for us, please? ;) 😁

I understand that completely. Now factory remote starts and alarms have come a long way and are actually reliable. Now for the music machines to catch up. Why not work with JL or kicker

I’ve found two pre fab boxes with 12’s that will fit (depending on your behind seat set up)…. Miiight go that direction cuz it’s gonna be a while til what I really wanted to do can be done…. I actually just ordered a 3D printer to mess around with some ideas I have for parts of the underseat bins
have been going back and forth on whether I want to try a kicker L7ā€ solo baric square ā€œ12 or either the 12ā€ (will be a tight fit) or 10ā€ compRT boxes with a passive radiator…. Going to likely order one of the 3 and then pull out the hideaway and my mounting board and re-work my mount for the amp (and have that dialed in to easily add the under seat enclosures once I’m done there)

since it had been 20 years since I’d done installs and or was really into car audio, this is giving me a chance to test out different set up ideas to see what I want to have in my truck for the lifetime of having it (I keep finding new options where I’m like ā€œman I want to try thoseā€)….

Funny how a truck having a crappy stock sound system can reignite my curiosity for building A great sounding car audio system šŸ˜‚
