Tell us MORE about the pre fab boxes you mentioned, and what variables behind the seat you are referring to.....tax refund coming!! :ROFLMAO:
Dimensions wise THIS ONE will fit, 3 1/2 inches deep at the top and 7 inches deep at the bottom…. With any of these you’ll likely need to cut off the factory “amp rack”… the problem with this one is the width, it’s 27”…. The restriction by options/model is that you’ll need the entire space from the passenger side blue trim to the middle blue trim covering the seat belt assembly.

Was playing with custom box designs instead of going this route, but ported you won’t have enough space, and the passive radiator basically gives you ported without having to provide the “ported” cubic footage the sub needs to hit the frequencies I want. What do I mean? I don’t want trunk rattling bass, I want to reproduce certain low end frequencies while having the gains almost as low as possible.

The other is a question mark as to the depth dimensions…. Kicker 46TL7T It’s 5” at the top and 8” at the bottom and it may angle out too fit to be able to close the seat, so it would likely either take an edit of this box or a custom enclosure such as this one (ignore the round sub, this is for a square solo baric)

have been compiling a list of boxes that would fit back there, and was going to do a “Where’s the Bass” thread, but I wanted to test some of them first

a few other 12s that have a low enough mounting depth and would work in a similar enclosure to the above are:
https://www.crutchfield.com/p_109CL1200/JBL-Club-WS1200.html?tp=111
And
https://www.crutchfield.com/p_130TSA30LS/Pioneer-TS-A3000LS4.html?tp=111

there’s some other 12s from like JL, fosgate etcthat would work in similar, but the JL is a lot more $

oh and how could I forgetTHIS ONE FROM MEMPHIS that includes the amp. I can’t find the exact specs on top depth, but bottom depth is 7.5” which makes me believe it would work especially because of the placement of the sub (you have the deepest area to work with on that part of the seat as far as seat back support bars, etc)

I’ve found two pre fab boxes with 12’s that will fit (depending on your behind seat set up)…. Miiight go that direction cuz it’s gonna be a while til what I really wanted to do can be done…. I actually just ordered a 3D printer to mess around with some ideas I have for parts of the underseat bins
have been going back and forth on whether I want to try a kicker L7” solo baric square “12 or either the 12” (will be a tight fit) or 10” compRT boxes with a passive radiator…. Going to likely order one of the 3 and then pull out the hideaway and my mounting board and re-work my mount for the amp (and have that dialed in to easily add the under seat enclosures once I’m done there)

since it had been 20 years since I’d done installs and or was really into car audio, this is giving me a chance to test out different set up ideas to see what I want to have in my truck for the lifetime of having it (I keep finding new options where I’m like “man I want to try those”)….

Funny how a truck having a crappy stock sound system can reignite my curiosity forbuildinf A great sounding car audio system 😂
Like BootXL76, while researching the smaller size subwoofers like the Kicker 48CWRT672 (2ohm) or 48CWRT674 (4 ohm) for mounting in the side of the bins below the seats (to the outside), I ran across a 6 3/4" CompRT 2 Ohm enclosed Kicker subwoofer with reflex passive subwoofer (48TCWRT672) for $161.96. So, this set up intrigues me in that I would trust that Kicker has balanced the enclosure for the best sound. That would also fix the enclosure issue and the size is reasonable. This has given me another option to use the CompRT and rear speaker upgrades with a nice 2 channel amp like the Kicker DX125.2.

Here is a pic of the Active/Passive setup with dimensions.

Like BootXL76, I need to confirm space behind the seat for a good spot not to limit the movement of the passive subwoofer, which seems to be the key with this enclosure.

That was one design I was playing with as well, was basically this design idea (on the JL below) but the opposite side would be the same angle with the passive radiator (but everything I read about those compRT boxes seems like kicker got it right)

I also ran across this JBL Fuse dual passive subwoofer that intrigues me some. I'm not all that familiar with JBL so I'm also kind'a cautious about this subwoofer, but the configuration is interesting.

It's $179.99 with fairly good reviews...if you can believe them

EDIT: Each of the two subwoofers are 13 3/4 wide, 10 3/4" wide, and 5 5/8 deep when combined 5 5/8"or back to back as shown in the 2nd photo. Of course they can be separated probably for best results. Anyway, an intriguing set up.

@Qwillex @BootXL76 any updates on your sound systems? I think I am realizing that sooner or later, I really do need more bass in the truck, so was coming back to these threads here. the Memphis sub with built in amp caught my attention. Lastly, for pure nostalgia, I would love a box set up with a Rockford Fosgate sub and amp. :)
Would love to hear any update.

@Adospeed I'm still loving my setup for the sound, I've been so busy lately that I haven't rebuilt my box, but some time soon. I'm out of town next week but PM the next week and we can meet somewhere and you can hear what I've done with it.

I’m currently on my 4th set up, building a 5th and I may have found a used hertz EBX F25 that I couldn’t resist at the price that’s on the way as well 😇
I LOVE the way the hertz cs250 S2 sounds paired at 2 ohms running 300 watts off the kicker cxa 400.1, but it’s just slightly too deep to really work behind the seat. I have it on the floor behind the passenger seat right now. Went with an audison 10 that will also run at 2 ohms, trying to find time to finish the box (and hoping it sounds the same as the hertz).

if you’re a fosgate fan, some of their pre made boxes will work. I was tempted to try the prime pre built box, but the reviews I’m seeing is that they have a tendency to burn out, so I’d go with punch if I was going that route.

I have a kicker48tcwrt102 that maybe has 2 hours of play on it that I’d let go for a great deal, but you’d pretty much have to edit the support bar on the seat back to get it to work back there (the passive radiator is the problem, the bar wants to basically sit against it)
@JJC found a way to make his kicker L7 fit under the seat, this box would likely work for the same (is actually slightly shorter than his in “height” (standing height, not depth) but is also slightly wider.

i also have 2 kicker hideaway hs8’s that I’d let go (might keep one, but…)

Safe travels @Qwillex ! Btw, just this morning I saw the same White Mav you saw, on Powers. 👍🏽
Yeah, I'd like to hear it at some point.

@BootXL76 5th versions?? Yikes . Now you're gonna have me running to the RF website to look at their pre-made boxes with a Punch series sub.
Thx for the update.

Let’s just say it’s become a hobby 😂😂😂
on a serious note tho, it was that whole effect where I started with a budget build, then some unexpected disposable income came my way and the “taste” I got from my budget build made me want more and it’s just been experimentation to find that exact sound I’m looking for (which I’m pretty much there, just have to get that sound source to the stealth location I want while leaving my underseat bins free for storage)

To revive an old thread I put this under the passengers seat and it is very impressive for what it is. I am astounded you can get the level of bass and clean sound from this box. Kicker did an excellent job.

I love how many Maverick owners seem to be putting in a system (or just overall Audio upgrades) that haven’t had or out a nice system in a vehicle for 20 years…. Seems Ford really nailed the whole DIY vehicle concept

following! Looking forward to seeing how it turns out
who told you that about me?
