How Quickly Will The 2023 Maverick Sell Out

Hi Ranchero, I like your posts. Your 100k estimated build capacity is probably close with supply issues and the factory shared with the Bronco Sport. My understanding is 6k per month = 72k/yr. If they can increase to 10k per month = 120k per yr. So 100k Mav builds seems reasonable.

A big problem for new orders is Ford keeps quiet about how many 2022s are left to build. I know 2 people who ordered hybrids June 2021 ahead of the long line with no special requests that are still not scheduled. Based on these people still waiting, Vectors from CO could be right, the Maverick (hybrid at least) really sold out in the first month.

For all we know, there still might be 50k Mavs that get pushed to 2023MY. Even if somehow zero 2022s get pushed to 2023s, now that millions more know the Maverick exists, there are probably already 100,000 people waiting for the morning of Sept 15 (including thousands of flippers). My bet is 2023 MY orders will close in days, not months.

The info is good. And your 50K Mavs reservations are probably very close to accurate. The Hermosillo plant can only produce 250K cars at best from wiki. Split that with Bronco 120K. They have only been able to make 60-70K in past 12 months and does not look any better for future. Very early on back in 2021 the reservation numbers were somewhere 110-120K before they closed order banks. My guess is Ford wants all the MY22 rollover accounted for before they add any more. So yes for those wanting that do not have a My22 rollover I am sure the new reservations will close within days after the order banks open. Most probably already have deposits waiting at dealerships..... I am 11 months and waiting for Sept. Rollover banks to open for the MY23.. This time with a few changes.......

And what about those of us who need more than one vehicle in a household?
Again, not saying they should. Honestly I don't think flipping is that big of a factor in the ordering process. But if Ford wanted to cut back on flipping, that is the best option IMO that isn't drastic. I don't think Ford cares that much. But if they did, making it inconvenient for the rare household who needs 2 now and can't wait for one to deliver before they get the other isn't likely a factor.

It could work, it could also backfire or make no difference.

Ford doesn't care about it until it starts hurting them. Dealers might get annoyed yet they still get sales, and dealers would rather have extra inventory from customers placing duplicate orders they cancel.

You do have a decent number of posters on here who've added multiple Mavericks to their households, with no apparent attempt at flipping them.

How about to solve the flipping we have a $1k non refundable deposit?
You want a $1k non-refundable deposit on what is supposed to be the least expensive truck and least expensive hybrid in the market? So just say the hell to the people that are looking for something they can actually afford unless you give us $1k now while you wait several months for your Mav to show up. Funniest part about that is that will scare away more real buyers than resellers.

To slow down flipping, one order per household. Wouldn't eliminate it but would stop the going to multiple dealers to see which comes in first.
A rule as silly as that would never work. Ford already had a plan to stop flipping, just ask John Cena.

Also what about businesses, are they limited to just one? What about LLCs ran from private homes?

You're also missing the dealer perspective in all of this. Dealers WANT people to place as many orders as possible. Increases the odds of canceled orders becoming their inventory. My dealer doesn't even require a deposit.

Thanks J, that is a small production number compared to all the people who are likely to order, including thousands of flippers. Everyone reading this needs to be ready to order on Sept 15 in case I am right and 2023 sells out right away.

How quickly do you think the 2023 Maverick will sell out and Ford will stop taking orders? I waited too long to pull the trigger on ordering a 2022 and alredy have a deposit at a dealership for the 2023.
My dad and Grandpa are ordering one the day that ordering opens. My brother-in-law is likely to as well. They are going to sell out very quickly.

For the record, all three of these family members, have or had half ton pickups... The gas mileage, capability and comfort combo is just too good for them to ignore.

Can’t say about November and December, but I ordered on October 30 and have a VIN and September 12 build date.
I ordered hybrid XLT + hitch on Oct 26, 2021 and have heard nothing.

anyone on a dealership "pre-order" waiting list with more than 16 on it already isn't getting their order submitted on the 1st day. Add 1 more day back for each multiple of 16 on the dealer pre-order list. IMO Flippers will be a small, mostly neglible % of all orders placed and certainly not all of them will be getting in on 1st day.

I read the Ford is going to increase Maverick Capacity by adding it to the vehicles that will be built in the Blue Oval City in the US. Don't knoww when that will happen but that sure would help as long as the suply issues are also addressed. They really need to find US manufacturers for their parts supply...IMHO. The global shet is a big problem..

Not anytime soon. Blue Oval City isn't slated to be operational until 2025. Don't fall for the clickbait video.

Even if the Maverick does end up getting produced there in 4+ years it will likely be because it's been redesigned on to whatever follows the C2 platform as a BEV version.
