As we've all been waiting for this 23' maverick to be released, I keep asking myself is it worth it to wait all this time just to place an order, and then have to wait again just to take delivery. I love the truck, but all the stuff I hear about these recalls and issues is making me uneasy and wanting to look at other similiarly priced veichles. Any thoughts??

I would have added a maybe to the list. If you need new wheels soon (1-5 months), likely no. If you can wait 5-18 months, it may very well be.* If what the Maverick offers is what you need in a vehicle, and you can handle the fact that there very well could be recalls, absolutely go for it. If you just want a Maverick because it's hard to get, or some image related thing, most likely not.

*Keep in mind, depending on your dealer you could very well be in line behind a bunch of people who are having MY2022 orders converted. The chip, and other shortages are likely to continue into 2024, maybe 2025, so the wait for new vehicles likely won't improve much.

By the time you get a 2023, there will be no issues.

The truck should be great............................

I think it's worth it. It's unique for the moment, checks most of the boxes and is right for the times. It all depends on where you are.
I'm thinking of (hopefully in the near future) accepting my XLT and ordering a Lariat. If the economy and the market stays somewhat similar I wont loose too much and I'll have the Lariat.

It might be 24 before you get your 23, hell my 22 might not show until 24.

Well, my thoughts are pretty much the same as "icegradner". To me alot of the decision would be the reliability of your current vehicle. If you need something soon, you probably want to be looking at other options, but I would still place an order with all the options you want, you can always cancel it if things don't work out. Currently you would be hard pressed to find this size truck for the price and i would project the prices will continue to rise (but you would have price protection from Ford at the price you sign up for - assuming Ford continues that policy). Your post doesn't state ICE or Hybrid - Hybrid could possibly add to the delay vs ICE based on MY22 and the issues and all have leaned more on the Hybrid version than ICE. The first model year of most anything has similar results. You mentioned other "vehicles", would that be other trucks, crossover, car? That could broaden the choices if not strictly a truck. My understand is all the other manufacturers face similar delays, constraints, etc.

Unless you're in need of something soon, then definitely yes. And if you really need something, but really want one, get something, even a used vehicle, to hold you over until your order comes in.

Why don't you put a few hundred down on a refundable deposit for a MY23 and then go about your life like the Mav didn't exist? If the Maverick shows up, you can buy it and if you find another car you like better, buy that one and back away from the Maverick.

I will agree with the other posts; if you can wait go for it. That is what I am doing. I have reliable transportation now. I do not need it, I just want a work truck.

I have a 22 that will be built after the 23 order banks open...go figure. I have a second 22 that will most likely roll over into a 23. My plan is to re-order and then depending on what's new, decide whether to take the 22 or wait for the 23. I was going to take the 22 until the 23 comes in, but the market has cooled off some and I don't know if its worth the hassle anymore.

This forum is for endlessly agonizing over things you can't control, not for using logic and being rational.

All future Ford Mavericks will built to be 16' 7.7" long.

If you want the most affordable & economical small PU available, you have no choice but to wait it out, or try to find a used or canceled order at a reasonable price.

If something else will do, then you have choices, which only you can really figure out.
