I see some listings near me and wondering,
Is a used maverick above 80k miles worth it ?

Am taking about AWD Ecoboost (not hybrids)
I mean, it's still a small engine. For most of the family cars it's a hard pass. Is it worth it for a maverick ?
Did you check out KBB.com or caredge.com for info??

If you really want a used Maverick, then disregard the following.

Why not go to FORD and build yourself a 2025 Maverick XL or XLT?

7) Ignore the comments from people who put catch-cans on an engine that already has one built in, or want you to add shocktower braces, etc. They have no clue what they are talking about. Its not a race-only vehicle.

Regarding your #7, please explain where YOUR built in catch can is. Really, not being sarcastic.

I bet I can find horror stories from any other manufacturer you would recommend.
Brand fanboys, especially those that stick around a community just to bash it, are always strange to me. Every manufacturer has, or has had, a product you avoid like the plague.

I would imagine a Maverick with that kind of miles was part of a fleet (work trucks). I keep my fleet truck immaculate, my co workers beat them like no tomorrow.
Yup!
I've been there.. Same Guys that beat the $#&@T out of a Rental Car/Truck..

Its on the side of the engine, where the pcv hose is attached. It works well unless you spend a huge amount of time at the redline. Then it might need something more...

I appreciate your reply. It looks like in the thread referenced, VRausch stated that there WAS additional water and oil collected. To my way of thinking, that is the issue. Do they help? The cost of installation is under $40, and the issue of Ford negating the warranty is a big concern. As to the implication that "if needed, the manufacturer would have installed it" is not something I buy. (No tow hooks on a 4x4 truck? Don't get me started! LOL). I think that as people start paying to get the carbon off their valves (or NOT), the issue will get clarity as the catchanners and stockers compare notes. Again, thanks for the reply.

Of course, because cleaner intake air in a direct-injected engine is a bad thing, unless you're racing, then it's a good thing.

Isn't it interesting that catch cans collect fluids from crankcase vapors even on daily-driven vehicles that have oil separators, and many race-only vehicles don't use PCV systems at all. Hmmmm..... I guess those are the guys that don't know what they're talking about.

I have 83k on my 2022 Ecoboost FWD. Of course, nearly all of those miles are on a highway with the cruse set.

I sent an oil sample at 75k and the little motor has really settled in. I'll change the transmission fluid again at 90k and send a sample, but based on how well its working I'm hoping for a good report.

I have no reason to believe that this car won't make it to 200k without drama.

Maybe you should take a closer look at what is in there. They collect a lot of water vapour and a trivial amount of combustion byproducts on this engine. Stuff that you don't need to separate out unless you need 1 hp more.

HP gain has nothing to do with the reason you might want to use a catch can in a DI engine. Until you understand that, maybe you should stop giving advice and dismissing those that do as having "no clue what they're talking about."
