For all you TFL fans in Maverick land. I laughed because Nathan chose the exact model SC that I came sooo close to buying while frustrated with my Maverick wait. I was literally about to pull that trigger a few weeks ago when my Maverick suddenly got a VIN and build date (in production now). I figure if I hate the Maverick, it's always an easy trade on an SC down the road.

For those of you not familiar with The Fast Lane. Probably the most fun car site on the web. And Nathan is a very cool "everyman".

I get what he means by the Maverick not being the most comfortable vehicle. Im personally not a fan of the XLT seats

Yeah if I have any disappointments it's the seats. Others posted that they were very comfortable but they feel kind of hard and unforgiving to my sore old butt. I will probably get a cushion or something.

We have an 05 explorer which has seats that are downright cushy. Ironically my mav had an issue and went to the dealer. While they had it they loaned me a new 22 explorer and the seats are just as uncomfortable as the mav. If I had to choose I'd rather buy an 05 new instead of the 22 explorer.

Unless ford makes a hybrid AWD at some point in the next year or two I may trade in for a Subaru forester wilderness or the new CRV Hybrid. My need for a truck is starting to wane a bit and im having issues parking in the city so I want to downsize. For now loving the truck besides the cheap feel to it. I rather wait until the 2023-24 foresters are revealed before making a decision

I love the XLT seats.

On our 2804 mile 12 day June 2022 vacation both my wife and I sat in the Maverick XLT seats for many many miles and hours. The seats are by far the most comfortable seats we have ever had.

Sitting in the seats over 8 hours and 550+ miles were a joy.

I look forward to videos on Nathan's Santa Cruz (assuming the dealership follows through). I think his will be the SC sweet spot plus or minus a few minor options. Yes, this is the Maverick forum, and I am hoping I can pay down my Escape enough to get an AWD hybrid Mav once it releases. However, I'd be very much interested in a SC if they offered it in a hybrid. Considering the Tucson hybrid and plug-in hybrid both come available with AWD, an AWD plug-in hybrid SC would capture my attention (at the right price of course).

Anyways, I'm glad Nathan is doing better and back participating. TFL is very entertaining, and I like their videos, reviews, and discussions.

I can't get by how ugly that vehicle is. The front end looks like our vacuum cleaner.

The more I listen to this the more interested I become in the SC vs a Mav

The Forester has always been one of my favorite vehicles, even though I never bought one. One word: VISIBILITY. If only they made a shorter version of the Forester I'd be driving it right now instead of our Volvo XC-40.

In addition to the SC's terrible fuel mileage, it cannot stand up to the hybrid-standard Maverick in regards to payload. Whoever heard of a truck of any kind limiting payload weight in the bed? SC specs no more than 660 pounds in the bed, which is only a portion of its rated payload.

That said, I feel like the Maverick has loads of room for improvement. AWD should be offered on the hybrid drivetrain, it should be able to tow more than 2,000 pounds in hybrid form, and it should offer the Pro Power Onboard feature. It doesn't need to reach for 7.2 kW or even 9.6 kW, a 2.4 kW offering would be phenomenal.

He basically can’t find a Maverick for msrp and can’t afford a Ridgeline so settled for a Santa Cruz. I know he didn’t say that but it’s reality. Said he wants a hybrid but the buys a more expensive less fuel efficient Hyundai 🤷‍♂️

My wife has had 2 forresters love them. Full driver safety tech at the lower trims. To get those on a mav you need lariat lux. If Subaru made the Baya again put me on the list!
