Not anymore. The reservation system is no more. You now go directly to dealer to put in order.
Okay, didn't know that. I hadn't done that in a couple months. Thanks for correction.

np, it was super recent (within last week) and I only knew because of one of @fordvideoguy 's latest videos on Youtube

If not busy - you will have a DORA to sign within 5-8 minutes... and the Ford confirmation follows within minutes - that is what happened for me on Monday!

The rest is a waiting game
Same timeframe for me too. I ordered on the 2nd.

Anyone in WA set up a courtesy delivery from Chapman to here? Local dealer initially said they could do it but when I went to confirm they said no.

Maybe this is a dumb question but does it have to come to a Ford dealer? My friend is the Sales manager at a dealer for a different car company.

I was wondering.. when the vehicle is now to be shipped to your Courtesy Dealer.. Should you contact your local dealer, or it is Chapman that is supposed to be in communication with the local dealer for the courtesy drop?

I called my courtesy dealer and he got frustrated and mad at me since I should not be the one calling him regarding the vehicle I ordered from Chapman, and it should be Chapman coordinating with them not me.. (his gonna do it for $300 though, but yeah prolly he is having a bad day)

@Dealerinsider can you confirm if any status updates like letting the courtesy dealer will be done by Chapman or should the customer/I be the one to relay all the messages and headsup that the vehicle is gonna come to their lot on that day?

I think it has come to an official Ford Dealer since Chapman requires a dealer code which maybe ford specific

Ok - yeah I assumed so since they have to do an inspection but figured I'd ask. My buddy would be way easier to deal with :) Just frustrating trying to find a dealer to work with.

Here is a good link to find a Ford dealer that deals with Fleet/Commercial vehicles. https://fordcommercialvehiclecenter.com Just put your zip code in and it will provide you with a list of dealers sorted by closest to farthest away. Just keep calling to you find a dealer willing to take the drop ship for you. That`s how we all have had to get this done to save with buying from Chapman. Good luck !!!

I used that same link to find a commercial dealer as well. Make sure you ask for the commercial manager. I called the dealer in Ocala Florida and asked for the Commercial/Fleet Manager. A guy answered and said he'd have to check. Never called back. So I got in the car and drove there and put eyes on him. He wanted to build a relationship as that what Commercial departments do. I point blank asked him if he was the Commercial Manager and he said "they don't have a Commercial Manager". He told me he was a salesman reporting to the sales manager but only worked commercial/fleet.

So as they say, Buyer Beware. They may have a Commercial/Fleet Department but NO Manager.

Yep... I just called off that list - from the link above - and I had already "burned the bridges" with three of the really close Ford Dealerships... and my final choice - the receptionist that answered had been there a long time and never had anyone ask for a "Fleet Manager" (enema? LOL!>!>)

Can anyone describe the conversation they had with a Dealer that DID give the ok for this?

Did they say "Sure we charge a $300 fee for that" or did they say "hmmm...well, I guess we can do that, let me check with someone".

Do they need to provide anything in writing for the agreement or once they give their verbal OK is that enough? I'd be concerned that the car would be delivered and they might refuse delivery or something? Do you suggest getting something in writing?

Just wondering how to develop the relationship with that person at the dealership so they agree to it and then what the process looks like once they say yes.

The one local dealer who was not a fleet dealer said this - After talking with my Office Manager it appears we can not offer you a "Courtesy Delivery" on a personnel vehicle. We only do the ones that are from a Fleet Dealer (which your dealer is you told me about) directly to a business. If you decide to order a Retail Maverick I would be more than happy to assist you.

I do own an online business...maybe I should have said "but I am a business" :)

both guys said $300 with no hesitation - they gave me their shipping ID, which is needed - apparently they had both done it before

The commercial manager I spoke with said they do these all the time, confirmed the process with me, and was exceptionally helpful.

I have 3 dealers local to me that will do CD. Why not, $250-$350 in their pocket and if they provide good service they can probably count on me to buy parts and bring my truck in for service. As the old adage goes, would you rather sell the razor or the blades. Dealers make way more off service.

I called and the Commercial Manager Jeff Swift at Ford of Port Richey, FL said yes they do them. He told me what the amount was and what it included and didn't include. He gave me his Dealer ID number.

After I hung up from talking to him, I sent Jeff an email and Cc'd Tom, Steven at Chapman confirming my conversation and the Drop Ship deal. It was at that point Tom Replied to the email asking Jeff if it was okay to send other customers for Drop Ship Jeff replied to Tom's email and said yes and he provided Tom with the dealer codes he needed to effect the request.

Being a retired Contract Manager, after any telephone conversation I always send an email outlining the conversation and any agreements made. If I've made an error the other party has the chance to reply and correct the record. Document, document, DOCUMENT. Can't say it enough. If it's in writing, it's hard to say it was never said or agreed to.
