Man, I used to not care about other people, but it seems everyone has a 6 inch lift on their Sierra or f150. Then they tailgate the fk out of you with their misaligned headlights. Then proceed to pass you on the right, or on the shoulder going like 120.

Don't get me started on the Diesel guys trying to flex on the interstate.
I often say “look at those two idiots” when a lifted gas truck passes a lifted Diesel and a friggen race breaks out. Do you two know each other? Are you going to the same location? Are points involved somehow? I could care less if either one rolls their truck as long as an innocent isn’t involved in the circus show.

My assumption is every time I see those big trucks driving carelessly is that they're probably just in a hurry to go home and open-mouth kiss their dads.

I have seen a lot of people worrying about the power of the Mav. It blows my mind where we are today. The low end Mav has 190+herspers. The EB has 250. The 1994 f150 six banger had a measly 145 herspers. For those of you who say, well that was the lowly six banger Ill raise you the 1994 FORD LIGHTNING had 240 and weight 4800 pounds! I have never heard in my life anyone say that truck was under powered. The 1990 1500 SS had 240 horses. These were the PERFORMANCE trucks of the day! Go back to the 80 and its uglier. In this day and age of 700 horsepower trucks people have forgotten that even 400 herspers is A LOT OF POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have become spoiled to super powered trucks. My 94 150 with a 5.0 was rated at 195 herspers. I put 300k on that engine towing boats and trailers across the South. It was NEVER underpowered.

So bottom line people, the 190 out of the Hybrid is enough. More than enough. As much as a V8 in the 90s. The EB is more than the PERFORMANCE TRUCKS of the 90s. Dont worry about the power of this truck. It is by far more than enough and more than most of us grew up with.
You are so right. I learned to drive in a Bel Air 327 4bbl V8 with a whooping 275hp. My '89 Samurai only had 64hp. My current '11 ranger has a 4.0L V6. Its only 207hp This reminds me of people that say a 750cc motorcycle is only for around town. We can go a little extrema about HP

Horsepower aside, torque is what made the trucks of yesteryear perform well. Most gas trucks from mid-80s through early 90s carried at most around 180-240 hp. But, they packed a solid 250-325 lb./ft. of torque!

That's the problem with the Maverick hybrid. While torque will be instant, it will not approach these numbers. That's OK though for its intended market.

The EB? Certainly.

Most aren't from Florida typically they're from Michigan, New York, or Ohio or other countries we have loads of foreigners. But to answer your question I bet they believe they are.

The idea for a truck to be a hybrid is truly revolutionary. I applaud Ford ( or any other company) to embark on a product that saves gas and produces adequate power for propulsion. It’s about time.

If the speed limit is 65, I drive 65. Since breaking into the Hybrid world back in 2019 I go the speed limit and just pick a lane. I try to stay in the outside (slow) lane unless there are 3 lanes then I stay in the middle. YEP, they fly past me. I just look at my average MPG and smile. I just stay on the porch now, no more running with the big dogs. But at almost 67, I figured it was time to be safe instead of dumb. But that's how I do it.
Love it. Driving has become so much less stressful since I figured out that people are only in your way if you're trying to go faster than them.

As someone who drives a 140hp 08 civic on highways where people average 85mph+. Merging can be downright dangerous. I will never buy a car with that low HP ever again and will turn down the hybrid Maverick I have on order if it feels equally sluggish.

Maybe its not a problem if all you do is drive 40 mph in cities... but its horrible on the highway.
Merging is a bad one but even worse? Try driving in a mountainous area with an underpowered car, especially if you get caught behind a semi struggling to make it up the incline and you want to pass.
I made a drive like that in a Nissan Versa once and swore I'd NEVER do it again, lol. The 2.0 EB in my Escape is damn near perfect for me power wise (although the constantly confused and hunting transmission is a different topic), so I expect the Mav EB to be a nice, parallel move. That's why I changed my mind post-order and switched to it from the hybrid.

To be fair the maximum speed limit up till the mid 90s was 55mph... now the average is 65-80 on highways. There is a trending up of speed limits on average, which demands more power to handle high speed passing and acceleration onto a 80mph highway (where people are doing 90 avg).
The 55 cap was lifted to 65 in 1987. I remember that because my family moved in May of that year and I watched from the cab of the moving truck as a worker on a ladder placed a "6" over the "5" on the freeway sign.

I wish I had your self control. I just love the noise my trucks make when I floor it too much. 😂

Maybe some folks need to remember the Maverick, especially the Hybrid, is build for day-to-day practicality and fuel efficiency.

Keep in mind, most other car hybrids have 1.(0-5)L gas engines paired with electric engines. The Maverick 2.5L is a big ass 4-banger paired with the electric engine.

Ford designed this truck with it's other models' capabilities in mind, as well as with the knowledge that customers have varying needs.

...after putting together this little chart...if your primary concern is "power," then the F150 V8 LX RWD Single cab gives you the biggest bang for your buck, and the Maverick Ecoboost is your 2nd best value (in terms of base model power value).

Once you factor in people carrying capacity and fuel economy, I still believe the hybrid to be your best value, as the annual fuel cost of the Hybrid should be roughly half to 60% that of the F150.

Also, I have to say, when compared against the Hybrid and the rest of the Ford truck line-up, the Maverick Ecoboost DEFINITELY holds it's own when it comes to power and value.

The step downs are obvious:
$32,980 - F150 XL 4x2 - 5.0L V8 - 400HP, 410ft/lbs - $/HP 82.45, $/ftlb 80.44
$32,180 - F150 XL 4x2 - 2.7L V6 EB - 325HP, 400ft/lbs - $/HP 99.02, $/ftlb 80.45
$30,985 - F150 XL 4x2 - 2.7L V6 EB - 295HP, 265ft/lbs - $/HP 105.03, $/ftlb 116.92
$26,910 - Ranger XL 4x2 - 2.3L Ecoboost - 270HP, 310ft/lbs - $/HP 99.67
, $/ftlb 86.81
$22,575 - Maverick XL FWD - 2.0L Ecoboost - 250HP, 277ft/lbs - $/HP 90.30, $/ftlb 81.50
$21,490 - Maverick XL FWD - 2.5L Hybrid - 191HP, 155ft/lbs - $/HP 112.51, $/ftlb 138.65

The Lightning was 4800 pounds and 240 herspers.
I started a thread about the Maverick vs old school Lightning. There’s definitely a lot more power available nowadays. To the point where we are definitely spoiled. My problem is that I want control as well as power. I’m a big fan of AWD. You can make as much power as you want. But it’s pointless without being able to control it.
