I too have the issues and I’m close to 5k miles. It happens every day.

I am seriously considering ordering a 2023 to get my preferred color (VB) and the Lux (probably Lariat). The main thing I’m struggling with is to go with the EB or the Hybrid.

This thread, and other reports of wiring problems, excessive wear on the tires, etc. are making me inclined to stick with the EB.

Other than improved gas mileage and lower purchase price (important considerations, to be fair), I don’t see a rationale for going Hybrid.

I have these "issues" but doesn't seem to me as big of an issue as others. At least not yet.

I've had mine for six months and three thousand miles. I experienced the "clunk" a few times in the early going, but It hasn't happened in a long time now. The transition to friction braking was a little jumpy at first, but it has improved considerably with time, and is barely noticeable anymore. So clearly this CAN be made right. Ford just needs to start taking this seriously.

I've got about 4k miles on my hybrid and while I haven't had this issue frequently, I've definitely had a few stop-and-go traffic brake grabs as well. Hell, as weird as it may sound it would actually be LESS unsettling if it happened all of the time rather than a few isolated and very random occurrences.

My brakes also exhibit some of these issues especially the jerky sensation right before stopping. I think I have found a work around which requires some practice. Just before stopping ease up slightly on the brake pedal. The truck still comes to a stop but without the abrupt dive forward. Been doing this for a few weeks in the hope it becomes natural without to much thought.

My 2¢
I have 4500 miles on my hybrid. I have been working on brake pedal touch for some time. It is amazing how light pressure works. In my mind I will try to just touch without any significant pressure as a warning that i am going to ask for braking. It appears that the 1,000 miles of driving mentioned in the manual of quirks happening is a necessity. I went over 2k miles before I used evo mode and seemed to have some improvement after I did that for awhile. After about 3k miles I started using the "L" button. I find it interesting for intown stop and go one pedal driving. Only using brake to actually stop unless necessary to slow down faster. Regen often will use almost all if not all of the "green".

Suggest driving both models to see which suits you the most. The Escape is a good stand in assuming no Mavericks are on the lots. After driving both I would not consider going back to a regular automatic transmission, the constant shifting isn't for me when an option that always keeps the engine in the sweet spot is available.

The positive harness issue will be sorted on existing builds and almost certainly has been rectified for current production. It showed up on the hybrids, but could have been on any model, they use similar harnesses. Unfortunate, but supplier issues happen with all brands.

Haven't heard of tire wear issues with the hybrid, wouldn't be different on a FWD ecoboost anyway.

Cheers.

Is it possible the 'clunk' is the ICE turning off? I feel a more noticeable vibration from that when I decelerate uphill and sometimes I can clearly feel the ICE turning off as a stronger vibration than normal.

Otherwise/normally, I basically don't feel the ICE turn off at all, just sometimes can hear it audibly but not feel it as much physically.

That's probably not the same thing you're talking about but I just thought I'd throw it out there just in case. I also have similar brake issues to others with the grabbiness and jerky stops, but I have not yet experienced the 'ghost pedal' when braking at very low speeds.

Was wondering if anyone else had noticed this. There have been some posts about clunking or thudding at low speeds. My Maverick certainly does that when dropping down into what I assume is 1st gear. Makes me think the transmission is not long for this world. There's also something I haven't heard much about. The fact that my Maverick doesn't want to stop at low speeds. The best example I can come up with is a situation at a drive-thru. Moving forward in line which gets you up to maybe 1 mph and the truck just doesn't want to stop. It's like fighting me (in electric mode). It's not until I really press hard on the brake that it finally seems to give up and then I come to an abrupt stop. Beyond everyones head bobbing forward and looking like an idiot that can't drive, I swear at some point, this truck is going to hit something in front of it.

This is much more rare but have experienced it a few times. Coming to a stop, the ICE and electric engine seem to be arguing with each other and trying to push the truck forward. The brake pedal vibrates (sort of like ABS working) and the vehicle shakes a bit. Turning the car off and then back on fixes the problem. However, not something ideal when on the road with other drivers.

Has anyone else experienced this? Feel free to pull this down if it's been discussed at length. I just hadn't found anything yet.

**Edit** Thank you for reminding me this transmission does not have a first gear to downshift to haha
Good morning! Would you send over a private message with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer so I can look into this stopping concern on my end? Thank you!

Thanks. Great idea on testing the Escape to get the feel of a Hybrid.

In addition to color and Lux package, I would really like to upgrade to AWD. I'm not a serious off-road guy by any stretch, but I do occasionally venture onto dirt roads, open fields, and wooded areas, plus have to deal with occasional winter weather. If the Hybrid had an AWD option I'd probably jump on it.

About a month or so ago, I saw a thread about how Hybrids seem to put excessive wear on the tires. Just something else to research....

I've never heard anything about excessive tire wear on hybrids, and I guess I must have missed the thread here. But as a general rule of thumb, if something is a real issue, a Google search will turn up an enormous cascade of discussions and data, pro and con. And since the search I just performed came up with practically nothing on the subject....I'm gonna call BS on this one until proven otherwise.

What about all the rest of us with the same issue? We all have the same software for brake control and the same problems. I've just been living with it until a recall/update is made, but as others have posted someone is going to be hurt by this.

Keep in mind, this is the same company that had over 500 deaths in their pinto before they issued a recall. May take a while before they do much. That was one of the reasons I suggested submitting a report to the NHTSA. Maybe an officiating body can make them move quicker than 10-20 forumites.

Agree 100%. On hold with Transport Canada now.

Cheers.
