100% agree! The size of the filter is smaller too (not sure if that makes a diff tho)
I tore the metal case removing it. It is thin!

Same here, they must have Hulk installing those filters at the factory, because it was on there freaking tight.
Yes it is / was!

Yeah after I got off the under cover, I had to run over to AutoZone in my fiance's car to buy a set of filter pliers.

Follow the maintenance info in the manual.

The car has a built in oil life meter as well.

Actually, FULL SYNTHETIC is NOT relatively cheap. Most places charge 100 or more for a simple oil change with full SYNTHETIC
I do my own oil changes (most maintenance items actually and brakes) Walmart still has Ford synthetic blend for about $5/6 a quart, not bad in my opinion. So the Mav hybrid oil change will be about $40-45. With the mileage I drive now probably about once a year. if you are getting charged $100 or more for oil changes you are getting ripped off. Again just my opinion and as another post said if I am changing oil ahead of maintenance minder I'm an a-hole. Ok, sure :)

Mr overkill here: I dropped that green-ish breaking oil @ 1000mi, new full syn oil & new filter. 2nd change @ 5000mi, then all other changes @ 5000mi increments. I know, I know... Waste of money. (My cousin wants me to give him my "used" oil so he can put it in his old car... Ha! True.).

I never heard of a mechanic saying " buddy, you ruined that engine by changing the oil and filter too often". I'm guessing something else will crap out bigtime on the Maverick long before the engine is worn out. I keep my vehicles for more than 150,000 miles (sometimes a lot more) and more than 10 years... I feel like even (expensive?) full syn oil is still cheap engine insurance. And oil/filter changes on the hybrid are really quick and easy (at least for me) on ramps with a power torx screwdriver to drop the aerodynamic shield.

BLEND...key word....BLEND....the Maverick is FULL Syn.....NOT blend. Blend is unacceptable for the maverick.

I rotated my tires and changed my oil on July 4th.

Ford Maverick Mileage for 1st oil change for Hybrid? Oil_1st

It was only 52% at 7,692 miles. That is typically around the point my other vehicles' oil minders request change (7000-8000 miles).

My wife reminded me that the EV coach typically reports 50-55% Electric, which basically tells me the ICE has about 1/2 the "mileage" of the vehicle, albeit a lot of starts/stop cycles.

My point being the mileage minder is in line with my other vehicles if the 50-55% duty cycle is considered.

I used the Motorcraft 5W-20 Blend (as specified) in my old Escape with great success, but I don't ever recall seeing a blend in 0W-20 anyhow. Not that I want to use a blend, but does a 0W-20 blend even exist?

Any name brand full synthetic is still only $5/6 a quart today.

If you do your own oil changes check this out. I am in no way affiliated with penzoil, but its been very well rated by various independent labs and a few pretty good youtube channels (projectfarm is my favorite).

Ends up being about $3qt for full synthetic for 20 qts. I just went ahead and stocked up on it since my Maverick uses the same oil as my Rav4. Also purchased a dozen oil filters from walmart since they are only $4 for the motorcraft filters.

Changed mine for the first time at 3000 miles (5000 km). Probably too early but i still like to do an early changed to be safe. I'll just do it twice a year in the future before and after the winter. Since i dont drive much that will still be only like every 4k.

I'm currently at 7,000 miles on my 2022 Hybrid Maverick and it's still only around 46% oil life. What I figure is that the part of the vehicle that uses motor oil is only running half of the time thus having a longer life and longer before oil changes. In the manual under Scheduled Maintenance, Page 435 and 436, it says you should expect a "required" message between 7,500 - 10,000 miles (12,000 to 16,000 km), but it all depends on how you use it. It does have a note that hybrid vehicles may achieve longer distances between oil changes, but don't exceed one year. If you use it for normal commuting, you should be able to go longer. Hauling, towing, or extreme hot/cold operation would be less mileage. But it would be good to pick a number and stick with it, just to be safe.
