My first oil change was free at the dealer so I had them do it at 3000 miles. The 2nd oil change was done when I took the truck in for its annual inspection and even though it only had 6000 miles or so on it I had them change the oil since they had the truck anyway. 3rd oil change was two weeks ago because they had the truck in for the recalls.

11,000 miles - 3 oil changes. I used my Ford points so no big deal and now I will just do it one time a year. 2022 XLT. Better too early than too late.

A friend of mine recently sent me this link to a video by Lake Speed Jr. (His father was a Nascar Driver). Lake Jr worked for Joe Gibbs Racing and was their Oil engineer. His strong suggestion is for the first change on a new vehicle to be at 500 miles.. I think that's where I plan to start after watching this.. Mav's not quite to the 500mile mark yet..
Just geeked out on several of his videos. It has me thinking of performing first change at 500-750. It also brought back memories of my 2002 Explorer when I last geeked out on oil analysis. I remember finding some machine metal shavings in one of my early oil changes and was happy to have got them out of the pan. You never know what may be lurking in a new engine. The good news is my oil analysis showed excellent low wear patterns which enabled me to extend my oil changes and reduce maintenance costs.

You will get many opinions. PERSONALLY I feel best doing the first oil change early, if for no other reason than to flush out some of the stuff from the engine seals, manufacturing, etc... I just so happened to get my second oil analysis back from Blackstone a few days ago. Here are the results. You can see the decrease in the metals and other sealants.

1st oil change at 1k miles, every 5k or 6 months after. It’s cheap insurance. I have 205k following this plan on my Fiesta ST with 0 issues. Mobil 1 oil from the start.
Ditto (same oil & frequency), I just don't get people that go by the oil life monitor (especially with an Ecoboost). I would probably be tempted to go longer if I was having the dealer do it, because that can be a pain. If you are changing it yourself, it's insurance that gives you piece of mind.
