It's not obvious? When someone purports to speak for a group "we all" then counterpoints will surely follow disavowing membership in that group. Only about 25% of Americans would even consider an EV and it's not like we ALL are pining for a Maverick version. YMMV

If a PHEV version comes out, it's an instant order for me. Simple as that.
Been happy with my XL Hybrid. Enough that I'll be going with a Lariat trim this time around.

Same. I'd strongly consider a Hybrid AWD, but it would also need to have adaptive cruise in a spec'd out XLT (or they need to change the Lariat interior...). I love my XLT Lux, perfect amount of amenities aside from missing ACC.

For a PHEV ACC would not be a must-have, it would be too good for my needs to pass-up.

It sorta depends on which survey you read......... So take your pick. Considering that 5 years ago hardly anyone had even heard of an EV, I am personally surprised that a significant number of people are at least interested in buying one.

Lots of things holding people back: range, charging infrastructure, price, too early on the curve, etc. But for some people with specific use cases its a no-brainer to get an EV. For others, not so much, yet. 5 years from now though? Might be a different story.

I am skeptical of any of the PHEV rumors, but as soon as a PHEV AWD Maverick is available, I'll be buying it. A FWD is vastly less appealing but I'd consider it, maybe. I just don't like getting stuck in light snow or mud...

First off... Love love love our Lux Lariat Hybrid. Ok, I say "our" it is hers, which was not the original plan... Wifes 2019 Lexus RX350 was sent down the road. I never imagined she would trade the Lexus for the Maverick. The Maverick was to be my work truck! (The Lexus RX350 is a great SUV, highly recommend btw... ) Where I am going with this is: if the rumors are true (assorted relible web sites w/pics suggest they are) and Ford is working on a AWD PHEV Maverick... The day it is available to order I will be all over that and we will be a two Maverick household.

If you look at the photos of the test mule these articles are referring to you can clearly see that it does not say PHEV but instead FHEV. Obviously the PHEV headline gets more clicks but these reporters are being very disingenuous. We can count on an AWD hybrid likely for the 2024 model year but that was expected. Nothing to see here unfortunately.

who is "we all" exactly? The XL ECO AWD Maverick is EXACTLY the truck I want right now. No use now or ever for anything EV in any of my vehicles. At most I would consider an EV crate motor swap in my Grand Cherokee down the road if they take away my ICE vehicles.

"We" the customers. I want 2 BBFs in a Maverick for 4wd. But what we are going to get is a gas turbo, a hybrid, a plug in hybrid, hopefully a power boost, a suv based o the Maverick, and hopefully a van based on it. We is the collective obviously.

Looks possibly like FM6-V or FH6-V to my eyes. But in any case it's a camouflaged test mule so there's some intention of secrecy that blatantly writing PHEV would seem contradictory.

Really hope there will be a PHEV for '23. I have some reservations about the transition back to ICE. A PHEV would make me a feel lot more comfortable.

No it's really not obvious why you have a need to have a contrarian post regarding the topic of the thread.

My thoughts are that the Maverick XL (Eco or Hybrid) is the perfect base for individuals to start building THEIR version on the perfect vehicle for their wants/needs. Packages and other addons will make this happen, kind of ala cart.

I added all the things I wanted to an XL and, low and behold, it even came with a free Lariet badge on the fender. How cool is that?

I admit my maverick is not a truck in traditional since.but I still feel there is a need for a 2 door version. Maybe a retro ranchero? The base xl hits a sweet spot in most budgets leaving a little for extras. Not sure I would use the heated seats steering wheel more than a few days a year. Everyone is different I get a lot of compliments on my truck even the f 150 guys like it.

Since the Maverick hybrid 'shares' a power train with the Escape hybrid, and since the Escape has a PHEV version already 'available', it makes some sense that a Maverick PHEV would be offered sooner than later. But with the current Escape PHEV hybrid starting at north of $35,000, it might an expensive option.

Still, I'd look at it pretty darned hard since we have a solar farm and most of our trips are local and would be mostly on electric.

Curious why not? Not trying to start an argument, I am considering an EV for our next vehicle (after the Maverick) and would like to see what people's objections to EVs are. Obviously not for everybody, at least not right now.

I would love an EV but the infrastructure is still lacking where we live….am gonna have to wait. Sad truth. My compromise is to buy an awesome, economic new vehicle with all-round capability and make it last: Maverick!
