I think I'd walk away as well. A new redesigned Colorado and ranger are both coming out for 2023. If my maverick order isn't here that's where I'm going. If you didn't sing docs to own it. I'd walk away. A lawyer would be best to ask though

Ranger and Colorado are mid-size body on frame trucks. Kinda defeats the purpose most people on here are going for in a more fuel efficeint compact truck- Maverick

In my personal experience, most lawyers are nothing more than Legal hour billing factories that don't actually accomplish what they promised they would do for you. And hard to turn off the billing machine after you no longer want them representing you.

Walkaway and order another one or ask for deep discount for damaged vehicle. If you do walk away the dealership will repair and sell it for a big markup.

I would walk away. No way do I buy a brand new vehicle with damage history unless it is marked down. That history will follow the car forever in a Carfax report.

The kid's insurance, in addition to being responsible for repairs, also is responsible for the diminished value of the vehicle. A brand new vehicle with less than 10 miles - Jeeebus. They will fight that of course, but this damage goes beyond the nuts and bolts.

These are not problems you want. Walk. It was not meant to be with you and this one. The universe has spoken.

After waiting 11 months and 1 day, my Maverick Hybrid XLT was ready for me. It was beautiful, had 3.4 miles on it. The salesman suggested I take it for a drive while he finished getting the paperwork together. My wife and I went down the nearby freeway to the next exit and turned around to come back to the dealership. I stopped at a yield sign on the service road (less than 1/2 mile from dealership) and was rear ended by a kid in a jeep. Bumper, tailgate and bed wrinkled. Fortunately the kid has insurance. So the Maverick I ordered is in the body shop with 8 miles on it.

But here is where I need advice from this forum... I haven't signed anything yet to take possession. So I thought the dealer would pursue the insurance claim, but they think I should do this since it is my order. Can I even collect insurance for repairs on a car that was not titled to me? Should I be paying full MSRP on a car that has been in an accident and the trade-in value is diminished? Or should I wait until after it is repaired and test drive it again before taking it?

Just curious did you call your insurance agent, the guy who would have the answer to your question

The vehicle was damaged while still in dealer inventory. You drove on a dealer tag and insurance. One way or another it will get fixed. It doesn't seem like a structural damage. The fact is that it got damaged with you in the drivers seat. You walk away, you get no Maverick. It will sell within 20 minutes of being back from the body shop at a mark up. I wouldn't expect them to discount it in any shape or form because of the damage. After all they didn't hit it... you did. I would lease it just like I did with mine. Then I wouldn't worry about the damage and the values after the lease is done. It is just a fender bender. No big deal

easily explainable. Maverick has only been in production since September 2021- less than ONE year!
And hybrids couldn't even be sold before OKTB in late November...

Yes, my State Farm agent was very helpful with possible options, but of course, left the decision to me.

The truck had dealership plates the dealership insurance should be tried first but the Moron in the Jeep is who you should pursue first. Also if you have no fault insurance in your state that complicates things too. Good luck and if you’re not comfortable with any of this put in a 2023 order in (with a different dealer I’d suggest) and get the updated versoon we’d all want anyways.

yes, good or bad, hard or soft all of life’s decisions lie within us. We always know the correct path but few seek it. Wow I’m so glad that I watched every season of Kung Fu when I was a kid it is a tough choice so good luck which ever way you choose.

Make sure the jeep drivers insurance pays you a bit for your aching neck, the less they want to pay the more your neck is going to hurt! That can make up for any reduction of truck value.

If you have not signed anything then Ford has a problem not you. Don’t buy a wrecked car at full price.

Unfortunately if this a long awaited ordered Maverick at MSRP or less, some scandalous dealers would love to see the deal cancelled, repair and then sell 5-10k over.
