That mustang was not being built during a pandemic lol
No it was not being built in a pandemic, however, it was built when a majority of the vehicles parts were manufactured in house in the U.S.A. and not by outside suppliers / contractors from all over the world. It was also a much much simpler vehicle to manufacture. Electronic ignitions did not show up until around 1972-1973. Vehicle management computers and electronic fuel injection not until the early to mid 1980s.

Even back in those days 1960s there were labor issues. In 1968 the supplier that supplied the standard dash assemblies for plymouth valiants went on strike. Plymouth installed the rallye dash for the 68 barracuda in the mundane valiant 2 and 4 door sedans and just kept the production line going. I read the service bulletin regarding this, and have personally seen 3 of them built this way.

Today it's a "world economy" this brings supply chain issues when parts have to come from overseas. Look at microchips as a small example/large problem. It's the Achilles heal. Todays vehicles will not run without them. Some vehicles like a typical modern chevy suburban have no fewer than 12 BCMs "Body Control Modules" .

These lux packs and CP360 require a lot of chips for it all to function. Dual zone climate control, power seat crap, fancier gage cluster, the enhanced cruise control with lane centering. All this takes more computing power to operate needing more chips.

Where are all the pieces coming from? Look at the window sticker. It gives domestic content, and where its all coming from.

I drive by our local dealers every day and the lots are empty. No Toyota’s, Mazda’s, Fords and so on. Ford not only hit a home run but back to back to back grand slams with Bronco, Maverick, F150 lightning . In normal times those vehicle would be everywhere.

Back in the early days of this Maverick board there were pontificating know it alls who said "oh this vehicle will never be used in fleets it doesn't have what businesses need for their fleet vehicles" ... Not enough payload, not big enough... blah blah blah blah blah.... I strongly disagreed with that statement. I said from the beginning, companies that have fleet vehicles that do deliveries, customer service, utility meter reading, and light service work will snap these Maverick hybrid XL's up. The company I work for just took delivery of 10 XL hybrids. The total order is 20. They intend to buy another 20 in 2023. I've said it before, I will say it again, I will continue to say it, Ford hit a grand slam with the Maverick hybrid.

Btw... My wife and I like ours so much we are talking about ordering a 2nd one in Aug for 2023.

They can't use them in Ohio because they don't meet the required weight to be used as a fleet vehicle. Simply put they are too light to get the tax write off credit.

Which IMO is really stupid..

I'm not sure people actually said this. People seemed pretty sure that the Maverick would be a hit and adopted by a lot of fleets (auto parts stores, Terminix, etc.).

I just did a forum search and looked at all of oldest mentions of "fleet" and none of them were questioning whether fleets would buy Mavericks. So unless there was an upswell in the sentiment between the early days and when fleets started buying them, I don't think that this was ever a widely held opinion.

I was delivering supplies to one of my locations at the local Humane Society and the facilities director and one of his team came over to ask about my truck.

I told them that if they can get over the 4.5 for bed they should be okay. They said they had a Ram 2500 for big jobs but that for most of what they do the Maverick would work well. And they liked that for a lot of the work they do, it'd be all electric.

That's not true. Businesses can depreciate almost all of the value of the base model ($18,200 for 2021) if they put them in service by the end of the year.

The limit is lower than it would be if it was a truck with a GVW of over 8,000 pounds but it's still most of the cost of the truck.

Edited to add: it's not 8,000 pounds. It's 6,000. The GVW of the Maverick is 5,200 pounds.

The dealer that I ordered from in Columbus Ohio had an order for 100 for O'Reilly auto parts for delivery vehicles.

In these cases, I wonder if Ford prioritizes fleet orders because they are such large orders, or retail orders for better profit margins.
A proper and decent company would do first order first built and stay in order..but I feel that's not the case.

We purchased 3 hybrid XLT’s for our fleet. If they work out we’ll order 30-40 next year. With the price of gas I wished we ordered more!

Thank you. I was starting to wonder if it was just me. We're also talking about getting a second one. I'm thinking about a base XL with no options since she took over my Maverick.

We love ours so much as well. I am thinking of ordering me one also. I mean, with gas prices continuing to go up....50 to 60 mpg around town just can't be beat.

Ordered XL in October. Received March. Ordering the Hybrid in Aughust. I can wait without the stress onnext build! Happy Trails! Love the Maverick. Panama City Beach to Mammoth Cave, smooth sailing ,80 mph and got around 27 mpg.. I really like this truck. I expect to get full sticker when I order the Hybrid.

Still never seen a single Maverick in the wild. Beginning to wonder if I will see a single one before I get to order my 2023 model.
Don’t know where you’re located, but I’ve seen about four or five here in Greenville.

In the Midlands, but it a pretty rural area, so very much a large pickup dominated area, even for people who use them as daily drivers.
