Another +1 for the eCVT here. I have a Hybrid Maverick, the eCVT is not an issue at all. When your passing, it feels like instant acceleration and the engine not loud at all. I'm used to Nissan Rogue CVTs (passing on the highway and the engine gets loud with a lag in acceleration) you cannot compare those 2.

This exactly. I had an Altima with a CVT and I hated it. Got rid of it quickly. The old Nissan CVT is what most people think of when they think of poor performing CVTs. This feels nothing like that. You don't get the whining or acceleration lag. night and day comparison.

That's why I was cautious about CVT we had a rogue and a transmission went and it cost too much to repair it so we sold it at the auction

Please take your own advice. Your posts are nothing but unnecessary negativity.
Just move on buddy read all the posts there's about three that are negative and all of which I tried to say let it go move on if you don't have nothing to say don't say it at all didnt your mom teach you that. Don't start arguments over nothing big this is a discussion you're turning into more than that congratulations hope you got your fix on drama for today.

"Economically speaking" there is no reason to buy the ICE. Functionally, you might need or want it, but it's always more expensive and less efficient.
If you need and want all wheel drive you have no choice . I have honest reservations about battery life 7 to 10 years out on the hybrid and that is just me, my buddy had a hybrid Ford put 150,000 miles on it and told me in another 25,000 he would have gone for another battery $4000, he traded it in and got another hybrid so that statement is not a knock on the ford Hybrid . no lectures please:) ,my wife has an all electric Mach E coming in two weeks:). My eco MAV I am keeping forever I'm just more comfortable with the ICE motor and that is just personal preference.

What's everyone's thoughts on the e c v t in the hybrid I never liked them before I had a Ford Windstar with a CVT in it and it always sounded like it was screaming at Full Throttle never liked it leaning towards the 8-speed anybody's got any experience with it tell me what you think
I used to own a Ford CMax hybrid with a CVT that is the predecessor to the one in the Maverick. Now I need to be able to tow 4,000 lbs so I own an EcoBoost Maverick.

If you don't need to tow or have AWD, I would take the hybrid Maverick all day long. The CVT in my CMax had superior driving characteristics to the good automatic in my Maverick. It was smoother, there was never any hesitation with it and it was more joyful to drive overall.

As for the passing power, I never had any issues passing at 75 in the Cmax. The hybrid may not have as much power but it makes up for it in being responsive and not having to pause to downshift. The Maverick hybrid also has substantially more torque than the Cmax and is about the same weight as well.

Like I said, if I didn't need to tow, I would definitely go with the hybrid. My understanding is that it rides and handles better because of its unique suspension setup too.

That's literally what I said.

Still doesn't make it more economical than the HEV because that AWD effectively costs the buyer $10-15K more than the HEV over 10 years of ownership.

I was nervous about it before I got it. I don't even think about it now. Quickly got used to not hearing gear shifts. took a recent drive that had some very long steep hills and it pulled better than my old 2011 Explorer ( with the 3.5L )
Strangest part still is the rotary dial gear shift but you get used to that as well.

Zero concerns. I had a 2016 Fusion Hybrid, and it never had a single issue. The Maverick drives great, accelerates just fine, and I have no concerns about long term longevity.

Brakes are VERY touchy in normal mode, if you run in eco they are good/normal if slightly more sensitive than my RAV4. I hear there was a TSB that fixed/helped with the touchy brakes.
I haven't noticed anything strange with the brakes. They take a little getting used to, but that's always the case with a new vehicle. People have posted that they seem really sensitive, but I don't think so.

I chose the ecoboost because I couldn’t stand the idea of the battery being in the passenger seat…
