I certainly get that. And if I were using an aftermarket headunit, I would certainly do it as I've done traditionally. One of the test I did when playing around with the bare harness was to play the rear speaker output to the front just to check out the output range (by ear as I don't have an RTA). It seems the output is pretty EQ-limited and would benefit greatly from summing the channels and optimizing for the installed speaker. You may be planning this with the amps you're installing, but I've started down this Key path already.

This should help anyone wanting to build their own affordable RTA

LC7i will not fit behind glovebox unless i want to move it once a year to change the cabin air filter, so behind the rear seat it goes. Will follow suit of another member here as i like their idea.

Waiting patiently for the full kicker upgrade kit that will be coming within the next little while. I've already seen the wiring, amp and sub online. You don't even need to splice no more. Just plug and play.
Which company is coming out with that?

Definitely following this thread. I‘m still mourning the loss of my Durango and the sick Kicker box thumping behind the third row.

Yes, I am THAT person you get stuck next to in traffic…especially if I miss a lyric and restart the song over and over ad nauseum…

Unfortunately, I will have to wait for the professionals to get up to speed. Those fragile clips and harnesses are just not safe anywhere near me.

Looking forward to your successes (and fails) as I live vicariously through you for the time being! 🤘

Here is the wire harness for the kicker sub. No cutting or splicing. Plug and play.

Where do you order this kit from? A link would be most appreciated.

It's from https://plugnplaykits.com/collectio...lified-radio-plug-n-play-audio-harnesses-kits

This will make most components plug and play, but for most subwoofers, you will still have to run a seperate power cable to the subwoofer or amp depending on what setup you get. They do sell wire subwoofers and such, but you will have to message them to get the specifics.

For example I got kit 17 which comes with a Kicker Key 200.4 amp that is all wired up fro plug and play and an Audiocontrol LC2i pro for the RCA's to a sub. I still had to run power to my sub in this instance.

Sounds good, make sure to post it on here when it does!

Crutchfield .... they give you the brackets and harness for free ! which is like $27 elsewhere ,
When you order speakers from Crutchfield, how do you get the free harness and bracket? If I select "Maverick" for vehicle it comes up "does not fit", and if I add the accessories they are charged at regular price...

I didn’t realize they had these “kits”! I like kit 19 with the key 200.4 and the hideaway 10. This is all plug and ply through them? I’m sold if so!

Question about the kicker key amps. I’m sold on the auto eq and time correction stuff. Is the eq adjustable? Sometimes you just need a little more bass! Or would I be limited to adjusting the eq through the dash (with its chosen eq frequencies and Q)?

Try 2021 bronco sport or just call/message them and tell em it’s the same as the bronco (72-5602 for the front door wiring harness and 82-5605 for the adaptor)

Only thing that wouldn’t be completely plug and play would be power and ground on the HS10, you’d have to run those separate (and the key is wired short where you pretty much have to mount it behind the glove box),

on the key itself you’re not really going to have an EQ adjustments (other than auto) but you have dip switch settings and crossovers (you can set them on 60hz if you want more Mid bass). But if you’re going to have the sub, that should fill in all the low end you need and you can then use the settings on the head unit (I’m one who traditionally keeps the “bass” setting flavor negative, and then have bump ups on mids and treble)
As for “needing a bit more bass, the HS10 should come with a bass knob, which doesn’t add bass beyond where your gains are set, but allows you to make adjustments within the range. so basically, turning that knob all the way up should mimic the same bass output as if you had it unplugged. My current set up I have the knob fem the lc2i pro and I have it turned all the way down, without doing that the bass overtakes the highs and mids at lower volumes, now with it all the way down the bass matches the volume of everything else (and songs without much bass response, I can turn that knob up and add where needed)

Totally forgot about the knob. Thanks for reminding me!

where is power & ground for the key 200.4 coming from? Is it in the harness?

I was curious about that too, but I'm not using that one.
I'm using the LLJ Custom DIY harness, and I ran dedicated #14 AWG (per Kicker) for the power and ground, outside of the harness.
