Ordered without ever driving one or even sitting in it. What a weird time we live in.

I’ll be getting mine in the next two weeks. I ordered in July. In October I had a chance to ride In One at a ford event in Austin. There is plenty of room. My wife drives a ‘19 Honda Pilot. The maverick Is an inch longer and almost identical in width. So you’re fine unless you think a mid size suv is going to be too small.

Had a Lariat Hybrid order confirmed before the Dealer got 2 EB in stock. Got to sit, open hood and tailgate, asked a ton of questions.

Salesman was a bit surprised when I declined his offer for a test drive, deferring with “no thanks, it’s not the same tranny or engine, I’ll wait until the real deal is delivered”.

So I wait…

My wife and are both 6'1" We ordered after at least sitting in one (no test drive as it was someone else's already). I thought it was surprisingly roomy and well thought out inside especially for the price and feature set. We are both picky about headroom and we ordered one with no moonroof because those usually take a couple inches off. Don't compare it to an F150, that's another animal entirely. It has more interior room than a lot of compact cars though.

We ordered around Halloween and I just got an email saying ours has been built and to expect it in about another month. So, 6 months from order to delivery if it goes according to plan. Ours is an XLT AWD with 4K tow and just a couple more options.

I had exactly the same concern about ordering without a test drive. After I placed my order I found one at a dealer a did a quick YouTube video. Maybe that will answer some of your questions.

I ordered mine on 7/19 and hadn’t seen one in person. Dealer had a Bronco Sport so I sat in that to get a feel if it is big enough because that is the closest vehicle to a Maverick which seemed fine.

Got my Maverick yesterday and it is a good fit and it drives awesome.

If I didn’t like it I could just walk away from it or sell it no problem for more money than I paid and not lose any money. Since it’s a hybrid I’m sure I could get some good money for it for my troubles. A win/win situation.

In 1995, I bought a new Ducati 900SS SP over the phone, in another state, without having ever seen one in person...

And, many years later, I bought this new 2009 Subaru Forester after hours of research and only seeing them on the road; no test drive or dealer visit...

They both ended up being big favorites of mine and I still have them both!

We’ve read many people say that there is plenty of interior room so I’m not worried! This isn’t my first time buying a car sight unseen and not driven; I did the same when I bought my Evo X years ago. I’m confident it’ll be alright 🙂

This will be my third sight unseen vehicle purchase in 5 years:

2017 Focus Electric
2021 Bronco Sport Big Bend
2022 Maverick XLT Eco AWD (delivering soon)
I've been pleased with the Focus and the Bronco Sport so I'm optimistic about the Maverick.

I was looking for a truck and friend mentioned the new Maverick. I was just beginning research when I was informed they were going to stop taking orders. Feeling panicked I ordered that day. I am having some buyers regret or maybe worry is a better word... as I've never driven or even sat in one. I am worried it will be too small. My car salesman is no help. I feel like he would really care less if I went thru the purchase or not. Heck, if I back out he already informed me they would sell it for $5K over MSRP so he probably wants me to back out. I am looking every day to see if I even see one. They are hard to spot "in the wild" as others have said. I will keep looking and keep reading and watching all the reviews I can. Some day I will get a call I guess and then maybe I can drive it before I sign on the dotted like and hand them $36K. I do know my 6'5 son will automatically get a front seat position when we go out in it. Lariot/Lux/AWD/Red Pepper. I am super excited for the color.
FOMO strikes again!

Almost nobody had sat in a Maverick when I ordered one in June. Like many others, it wouldn't be the first vehicle I bought sight unseen and I have yet to be disappointed. If I am so disappointed that I don't want it after waiting a freaking year, I don't have to buy it.

I did the check it out but not drive thing back in September when local dealer had a trainer on site. They wouldn't let us drive it, but later I got to test drive a retail unit and confirmed it was the right truck for my needs.

Yup, welcome to the club.
I paid to go to the Dallas car show last weekend just so I can finally see one and sit in it. It was a XL that was available to sit in, I wasn't impressed, it's really basic everything. There's an XLT on display but u can't sit in it, looks a bit better. I'm confident the Lariat lux package that I ordered should be nicer, since I tend to keep my car awhile.
sounds like you have unrealistic expectations there

There was a deluge of YouTube programs on this truck that it became a “virtual” fit. I had 8 months of information (let’s face it-brainwashing) that when it arrived I felt I knew more about it than the guy who sold it to me. I have an average frame #200 5’11” so sitting in the driver’s seat seemed second nature. It’s a wonderful vehicle.
