I wish I just got the bed rug since I have a soft tonneau cover. I’m mostly hauling furniture and other personal items, but the bedliner has been quite a nuisance. When you pull items off the bed, it can potentially leave black stains or scratch it.

I’m using a rug now to prevent this but I feel like I wasted $500
I have the sibl and really like it.. as with others I agree that you can always get a moving blanket or heavy duty rubber mat to prevent scratching of furniture... Personally I don't believe you wasted 500.00 dollars... down the road you might find that it was a very wise decision you made to include the spray in....

The rubber mat addition everyone suggests will probably solve your problem.

Side note: I didn’t get the bedliner due to cost reasons. I used my ford points to get the tray liner for free and think it is a decent option (for those who don’t have a spray-in, anyways)

I’ve never seen the tray liner where do you get it?

Is the surface grippy like a rubber mat, or does it allow things to slide more easily? I have a SIBL and am looking for something a bit smoother and less grippy to allow stuff to more easily slide in and out. I would appreciate any tips for something I can add on top of the SIBL

I have a Rhinoliner and it is a lot softer and smoother than a LineX or factory liner. I posted about the differences and talked about how some are too hard and can scratch cargo.

My order is an XLT w/ Luxury Pkg. This was supposed to come with a SIBL as part of the package. Are you saying that the lux pkg bedliners are now drop-in? I ordered on 8/27, and have a build date for the week of 4/11. I may not have been clear that lux pkg bedliners were going to be drop-ins for the lux pkg. Not a deal breaker.
I don't know when exactly it changed. I ordered on 12/28, and the Ford website still said lux included spray-in. So that's what I was expecting. Salesman at the dealer didn't know it had changed either. After I told him all the options I wanted and he had the build sheet is when he noticed it said drop-in liner. So yeah, for a few months now, lux package has been drop-in.

I decided it's not a deal breaker for me. Unless I have to start cutting it up in order to use the cubbies. I do not want to risk damaging anything on the truck trying to do that myself.

I don't know if the factory installed drop-in will have this taken care of or not, but the one guy who ordered it after the fact started a thread describing how he had to cut out part of the bed liner so he could access the cubbies. I don't want to deal with all that.

Thanks for the information! Yeah, I'd prefer the SIBL, but a drop-in would work. I guess I could always do a spray in later if the drop-in wasn't working.

That would suck having to modify the bed liner!🤞

I ordered my XLT without any liner. I'm kind of up in the air about bed liners.

My first truck, a new Toyota in 1985, didn't have a bed liner. No problem with rust. (I live in northern NY where the roads are salted heavily in the winter.)

I traded it for a Chevy 2500 4x4 n '88, also with no liner. I kept that truck for 15 years until the frame rusted to the point where the truck got swaybacked. All four quarters of the body had started to rust through, but there was no rust in the bed (which had almost all the paint worn off).

My '95 Dodge 1500 had a plastic drop-in liner, which I hated. It was slippery and everything slid around in it. It also held water.

I plan to put a soft tonneau cover on the Maverick and I'm not planning on a bed liner so far...

I don't think you wasted your money. Maybe you just need to alter your perspective. All the items that are leaving black stains or scratches on your SIBL when you transport them would with out the SIBL, be causing the same damage to your painted bed. Your SIBL is doing it's job! It's taking the wear and tear and keeping your painted bed free from scratches and rust.

For me, a SIBL is mandatory. It's as necessary as floor mats. The moving blankets others have suggested, are a low cost solution to your problem. Heck you could even use cardboard. If you transport a lot of goods, you might invest in a bedrug. I ordered the xlt mat through tonneaucovered.com for $180 with no tax and free shipping. It covers the tailgate and the gap between the tailgate and bed. The impact mat is similar, (different material) and is available through the Ford Accessories store.

It can be purchased for less elsewhere.
I removed my SIBL from my hybrid XLT Mav to hopefully help get scheduled.
I was going to have the dealer do the spray in but I like this bedrug mat. Only worry is do you think it might trap water underneath it? I will be putting on either a hard tri fold or hard rollup tonneau cover.
Thanks

I haven’t hauled anything yet, but it is a hard plastic that is very textured. So it has some abrasion/friction with objects, but isn’t rubbery like a spray-in, so sliding items would be more likely.

The dealer ordered it for me, but you can probably order from Ford Accessories website so long as you aren’t in Nevada or Oklahoma.

Interesting. This is not available on the accessories.ford.com website. I wonder if its only available through a dealer?

For me, that looks like a good idea that I'll try....but mostly because I've already got boxes of them in my garage. If they don't work, I'm not out anything plus I've reclaimed some garage space.
Let us know how that works.

I'm looking to get the horse stall mat and cut to fit over the spray in liner. Tractor Supply has a great deal. I wish they had the 1/2" in 4'x6' though. They only have the 3/4' in that size. Then, no matter what I haul it will cushion, including my knees ;)
Try Lowe's for the mat, I got 2 for 20 something bucks each. I believe they are 1/2".

two mat's fit perfectly, you have to cut one, but the leftover piece fits the tailgate to a T. I don't remember the exact cost, but it was under 30 bucks each.
