I ordered SIBL (haven't received my truck yet) because it is a rugged solution and holds things from sliding and slipping even when wet. The bare painted bed and hard plastic DIBL allow too much slip especially when wet. Not good for backing motorcycles out of the bed when you rely on front brake to slow descent. I rarely crawl on my knees in the bed of my trucks and with low step in and reach over heights of Maverick bed I may never have to. If I find myself needing to crawl more than I expected, I'll add a padded mat for that use and probably keep it stored in the garage when not needed.

I have the factory spray in liner and will be getting a rubber mat. Something cheap and generic that I will cut to fit.
Post what you end up getting. I was thinking the same thing.

I carry a lot of furniture and thought about this as well. I'd say for furniture you'd want a carpet back there regardless of the bed liner, just so the furniture doesn't scratch.

An outdoor carpet seems like it would be the best bet, even if it wasn't a perfect fit

I wish I just got the bed rug since I have a soft tonneau cover. I’m mostly hauling furniture and other personal items, but the bedliner has been quite a nuisance. When you pull items off the bed, it can potentially leave black stains or scratch it.

I’m using a rug now to prevent this but I feel like I wasted $500
It is my opinion the bedliner is to protect the bed, not what your hauling. I’ve always had spray in liners and I keep two moving blankets under the rear seat for that reason

Will do. Finishing paperwork from Chapman. Should be driving it this week.

I'm looking to get the horse stall mat and cut to fit over the spray in liner. Tractor Supply has a great deal. I wish they had the 1/2" in 4'x6' though. They only have the 3/4' in that size. Then, no matter what I haul it will cushion, including my knees ;)
A note about Tractor Supply, it is baby chick and duck season. Not a good idea to put them in the bed of the truck without a cap.

I am very happy with my bed mat from the bedrug folks .Their was just one thing I did not like about spray in: I could not get past scuffing and sanding perfectly good paint to apply it .Here is a thought which I am exploring . Keep bed rug on the floor and tailgate .Then buy the 3 vertical sides of the drop in liner from ford

You got a spray in for $500? Dang, I was quoted $650.
I already had the BedRug and it works very well. 15 minute install.

I don't think you wasted your money. Maybe you just need to alter your perspective. All the items that are leaving black stains or scratches on your SIBL when you transport them would with out the SIBL, be causing the same damage to your painted bed. Your SIBL is doing it's job! It's taking the wear and tear and keeping your painted bed free from scratches and rust.

For me, a SIBL is mandatory. It's as necessary as floor mats. The moving blankets others have suggested, are a low cost solution to your problem. Heck you could even use cardboard. If you transport a lot of goods, you might invest in a bedrug. I ordered the xlt mat through tonneaucovered.com for $180 with no tax and free shipping. It covers the tailgate and the gap between the tailgate and bed. The impact mat is similar, (different material) and is available through the Ford Accessories store.

It can be purchased for less elsewhere.

The rubber mat addition everyone suggests will probably solve your problem.

Side note: I didn’t get the bedliner due to cost reasons. I used my ford points to get the tray liner for free and think it is a decent option (for those who don’t have a spray-in, anyways)

My friend who owned several trucks always told me must spray the bed liner as it protects your truck.

I also will do it plus the rug.
