Yeah, one benefit of the location of the hybrid's cat is that it would be hard to steal.Side note: So the cat is right at the manifold? Not under the vehicle? In other words will crackheads not be able to steal it easily?
With a melted shield? No way!guessing if you're skilled and motivated enough to steal the cat you probably have the wherewithal to take the whole damn truck.
Engine block heater?LOL,, up north, leaving a car run for 45 minutes to an hour to warm up is very common, been doing it for decades. Also, at -10,,, or worse, some folks will leave the car run for hours while there eating out, having a beer at the bar,, you name it. Here's an common example of a town here in Iowa, hoping folks will shut em off, discouraging local theft, which usually is local kids joy riding, ,,,or cars just taking up space.

Look up 8F35 transaxle issues and 2.0l Ecoboost head gasket failure. Then research Ford's 17y old hybrid drivetrain, using an engine design from 2000, and then tell me which powertrain combo is unproven.More the reason I'm glad I got the Ecoboost rather than a newer, unproven Hybrid.
Okay then. How do you explain this new post?Look up 8F35 transaxle issues and 2.0l Ecoboost head gasket failure. Then research Ford's 17y old hybrid drivetrain, using an engine design from 2000, and then tell me which powertrain combo is unproven.
I honestly thought the hybrid powertrain would have been more reliable given it's pedigree however to be fair, the ecoboost head gasket issue was when they were using the old Mazda block design which they have since changed so I believe it's no longer an issue. Also, I have been doing a ton of research into the 8F35 transmission and apparently Ford has beefed up the transmission significantly for the Maverick. I think Ford is having some serious quality control issues at whatever plant they're using for making the hybrid 2.5 considering how many issues we're seeing. Like I said though, I would have assumed that the long tested Hybrid engine would be the more reliable but that hasn't been the case here on the forums lately.......Look up 8F35 transaxle issues and 2.0l Ecoboost head gasket failure. Guess no one told you about the 100% recall/failures of the Focus RS headgaskets?however to be fair, the ecoboost head gasket issue was when they were using the old Mazda block design which they have since changed so I believe it's no longer an issue.
Yeah, that's a 2.3 motor and different block than the new 2.0 ecoboost. Tuners don't even recommend that 2.3 motor and often replace it with the more reliable 2.0 ST block. Be informed before opening your mouthGuess no one told you about the 100% recall/failures of the Focus RS headgaskets?
Maybe on an old John Deere tractor, or old diesel from the pre 80's years, but dont see them used much now a days. Warm up real common now with keyless remote start. Just drive by a factory around 2:30,,,quittin time at 3:30,,lots of empty cars running when it's cold, and why not? Plus, since when did anyone see, or have to work around, an obvious major issue such as this, an exhaust compontent literally nearing meltdown,,, no matter how you look at it, it's scary and dangerous. Anyone else ever seen a car or truck that does this,,Ford,,Chevy,, Mopar,,,anyone???Engine block heater?
Hereās been my problem:One thing you need to remember and as someone doing support it's easy to forget. People only complain when they have a problem and while people will sing praises then they have a really good experience, on average (and this is from a customer service training many years go) a good experience is shared with 7 people while a bad experience is shared with 14 people. I know the Hybrid are outnumbered by the Ecoboost but how many Hybrids do you think are out there being driven? There are literally more stories of Mavericks being totaled in accidents than reports of Oil and fluid leaks.
The Catalytic issue has had multiple reports from different people and what I believe to be a repeatable test case where the problem could be reproduced by anyone who wanted to...and Ford has acknowledged an issue and is addressing it.
There have been ( I believe) two reports of the seat cushion fabric not being 'properly' attached to the cushion and some discussion about potential explanations.
I'm not going to say there isn't issues because there have been and most likely will be but unless or until you have at least 2 independent reports of the same issue I wouldn't call it anything more than a one off problem.
