..More the reason I'm glad I got the Ecoboost rather than a newer, unproven Hybrid.
Bottom pic shows coolant hose out of retainer. Is hose clamp misplaced as well? Here's mine. Never remote started or idled, rarely used climate control. Live in a warm climate, so not necessary. Looks pretty melty due to the molded metal shielding, but it is undamaged. Still not happy about ford's (lack of) response to this issue, even if it hasn't affected me.

Yes!Trivia time! Does this maverick have the dreaded melting heat shield or Is it brand new with no use ?![]()
If this hybrid is such a reliable engine, why is a problem like this already occuring then? If it's been out for a couple of years, there shouldn't be quality control issues like this already happening or happening at all. I fully realize that the Ecoboost is by no means perfect and having it turbocharged really knocks the reliability. However, the generation 2 Ecoboost that the Maverick and other Fords such as the Escape, Taurus, Fusion, etc. has been out since 2015 and has been a proven engine. Sure, it won't get 200K mile trouble-free Toyota levels of reliability but it can least get 150K miles relatively trouble-free...
Now that's funny......and not true. Geez, man. The Ford hybrid system is extremely reliable. It is nearly identical to another extremely reliable hybrid system. Whose you might ask? Toyota! Man, I can't believe some of you guys. You wanna talk reliability? Turbo charged motors, well, I'll stop there.

Will the cat get as hot if Mav is started with the key and idles? Are you remote starting on cold mornings?
Yeah, too many fake news items like this make it to the trending forum topics...and take on a life of their own. And then you have MTC posts like this one which is an important cautionary tale with documented proof (Reno dealer stole MSRP special order from customer, resold at $5K markup and left him hanging two months until he gave up) that get little or no visibility. The OP or admin really need to update the title of this thread. The OP's photos show no damage, and it seems like a lot of MTC members are not bothering to read through the posts to see that.
