Stop making shit up. The memo you posted clearly states that Ford is developing a PCM update to address the issue and dealers will contact those who reported the issue to schedule appointments and make the repairs......

.
Then why does it say I can keep driving it when my cat is glowing red and my heat shield is warping. I'm sure you are fine with your car being damaged as long as Ford says it's ok.

I'm mean the picture you posted appears to show a pristine heat shield, so that's probably why.

I do not see any evidence on mine of high temperature damage. There would be some discoloration and other telltale signs (distortion of nearby plastics, gravity flow of the softened shield (had it occurred).
I am not dismissing the catalytic convertor issue at all, but in my case, it appears as I would expect.

The orange cast on the shield in my photos is reflected from the orange underhood high-voltage cables.

Until I see a picture posted of one that is smooth, I’m going to assume this is how it’s supposed to look. Perhaps the bends are intentional to give it a little structural rigidity to make it stronger
That's a stamped piece of sheet metal. In order to bend it to fit the contours has to compromise by bending and rippling in spots. I'll put $100 on the fact it was never smooth to begin with.

I did some work early on in my career in a manufacturing facility that did deep-draw sheet metal forming. Those stretch marks were called "fingers" from a QC perspective, and it was caused by die or lube issues. That was carbon steel, which is more ductile (forgiving) than aluminum. Tooling is very expensive, I wouldn't expect a lot of cost is sunk into a non-appearance functional part.

You're right. I make a lot of street rod parts. Taking a flat piece of metal and shaping perfectly smooth in any given shape takes a lot more time and dollars than Ford is gonna invest in a lowly heat shield.

Dealer will inform OP that all heat shields look that way due to the awkward placement of cat.

And OP claims shield is “all melted” in the video, but as a former welder, I can tell you that isn’t what melted metal looks like.

When stuff like this happens I don't feel quite so bad that my ordered truck still isn't even scheduled for production. I'm hoping more of these bugs can be detected and fixed before my Maverick is even built. It's sad that the buyers often become "beta testers" for companies releasing new products, but then until you get thousands of products in the field and working in real-world conditions it's hard to anticipate all the things that can happen.

Just curious... what is it about using the remote start that creates this problem? Just that the vehicle sits idling for an extended period?

The OP or admin really need to update the title of this thread. The OP's photos show no damage, and it seems like a lot of MTC members are not bothering to read through the posts to see that.

Are you really shocked at that lack of reading though? Lol
People read headline, freak out, then....
Facts? Research?!? Ain't nobody got time for that!

The shielding is warped. It's supposed to be smooth metal. The catalytic converter was glowing so hot it melted and warped it's shield. The shiny part should not have warps.
I assumed they were being sarcastic lol it looks like spacecraft foil now. Crazy

I'm guessing this happened when I remote started. Got a appointment with my dealer 4 weeks from now. I'm hearing Ford is doing nothing about it. I bought a brand new vehicle. Ford fix your s***

Is it east to have a new shield installed by Ford ? I hope at the very least they do that.
