I'm wondering this too.Curious whether these stand up to automatic car washes with all the rotary brush action. I hate to go to that type of car wash but don’t always have time for a hand wash. Any experience with Maverick hood deflectors in a car wash?
That's the kind I'm waiting for. I've had one on my Sport Trac for 15 years. Minimal bugs and never had a rock hit the glass. Need one with that slight curvature on the upper edge .Still looking for a more upright bug deflector that is more upright to keep bugs, sand, tiny gravel off the windshield. Had one that worked well on an SUV but may have to resort to putting foam under front edge to make the deflector more upright.

After 10 years you probably won't need a hood protector. The smoked plastic will give you a gentle fade down to the hood edge and the tape can be gently removed with WD-40.I just hate putting anything adhesive on a brand new car/truck paint.
If you mount it and leave it for 10 years and then it breaks off or something I'd hate to see spots where the adhesive might fade differently than the rest of the paint. Not sure if this happens like it used to on older cars - I remember seeing cars with bumper sticker spots that were a different color than the rest of the vehicle.
I just don't have much experience with these. Seems like the aftermarket one allows more cleaning of the hood versus a taped on one? I'd be worried about what happens underneath the taped on version. Would be interesting to hear what people have experienced with these before, especially what things looked like if/when they removed them.
That one is a FORD accessory made by LUND.For the "upright deflector", is this the sort of thing y'all are talking about? I'd be curious to know if that's a Ford accessory or some third party thing.
I stole the pic from the hot pepper red club thread, maybe that poster can answer the question about if it's a Ford accessory or not. Either way, it looks cool.
Yes it absolutely protects your hood from rock chips etc. The high center pushes airflow up and above your windshield. So worth the money in my book.I wonder if it's effective in actually protecting your hood. I notice now it only pops up in the middle. Looks stylish...is it functional?
