Question on Ford Aeroskin hood protector

It's shiny,it's like a piece of black plexiglass, I think it would look great on the red, had it on both my Mavericks going on my new one when back in stock.

The current version which has been available for a couple years now is textured Matte smoked acrylic.

The original version is smooth.

I located a 'hard to find' original version at a large 'on-line' Ford parts dealer. 4 months ago it was one of the last remaining original deflectors they had.

We have the Aeroskin Matte version on our F250 and Maverick. Both have held up well.

We also wipe down all outer matte surfaces with Chemical Guys Matte Detail Spray Sealant occasionally to help with UV protection and cleaning.

I like the Matte version myself but I'm still on the fence about getting one. I think I have a few stone chips in the area where it goes so maybe I should fix those first. Although Father's Day is coming up and it would make a great gift, lol.

I just got the black smoke smooth finish hood protector, it's available on the Ford website, I just got it last week, I had it on my 22 FX4 and my 25 lariat, am putting it on my 26 Lobo this week, it has saved my hood many times , you can see the dents in it that would of been in my hood.

I have the OG Aero skin, that they discontinued. No place for bugs to get under.

Am I correct in that none of the currently available ones are like this discontinued Aero Skin, they are not "deflectors" in the sense that they don't help with airflow to keep small rocks away from the windshield?

I read that the Aero Skin was discontinued and that maybe it was inducing hood shake which is why they stopped making it.

Like I said I got it delivered to my local dealership took 3 days, had it on 2 Mavericks and putting on my new one, never had any problems with it, it blends in with grill and looks much neater than than textured one.

You are correct.
The hood shake was easily remedied.

I should have bought the extra one my dealer had.
