That's why I asked for the specific model. The item desccription says nothing about how it mounts to the vehicle.

Gary

It’s HUSKY brand, and it definitely doesn’t stick to the hood, it comes with plugs that are used in the existing holes for the rubber gasket/seal around the hood.

I checked the Husky website for this specific model number. Here's part of the page: "NSTALLATION OVERVIEW The Husky Liners hood shield installs quickly and cleanly with no drilling required. Using 3M™ automotive-grade tape or included no-drill fasteners,"

I guess there's two ways to mount these...

Gary

Edit: I just ordered model #2815980, so we'll find out... $75 US

Pretty sure this is the one. I will verify with my wife later; I used her Amazon account to purchase.

Husky makes both a stick on version and the one above that mounts using existing holes under the lip of the hood. Here is a link to that one.

I have the OG Aero skin, that they discontinued. No place for bugs to get under.

I put it on both my Mavericks, saved my windshield and hood from rocks, nothing can get under it, not possible, it attaches with 3M tape all around.

The only long-term problem I’ve seen in Arizona is if you leave it on for five or more years, the paint will fade differently and they’ll be a strip of darker paint underneath the protector
I never considered that but mine is a permanent fixture which would be replaced if it was removed.

The above model number did not come with any adhesive. Four push clips for mounting only. Installation took 10 minutes.

I just ordered one on Tuesday for my 25 XLT. I think that the installation overview is a generic statement of the 2 ways they mount all of them. A link to the 3 page installation instructions for the 2815980 model is just below on page. I’m glad to read that. It only took 10 minutes to install. I watched some videos about the AVS version before they were bought out by husky and in two videos, they were saying that the two inner mounting points were were warped and made it difficult to install. I like the old school look of this model and l wanted something that might deflect some of bugs from the windshield. Husky also has it for sale this week for $63 US with free shipping.

I installed the ford shield, blends in with vehicle 15 min install, 3m tape, looks factory, never a problem in car washes, those big bulky ones ruin the look of the vehicle and flop around, in my option, its out of stock on fords site, getting one for my new black Lobo soon as its in stock, free with points is best part

So is this Ford Aeroskin model a matte finish or shiny? I like a matte look but my old eyes have trouble telling from some of the pictures, lol. Anyone have this installed on a Ruby Red Maverick?

It's shiny,it's like a piece of black plexiglass, I think it would look great on the red, had it on both my Mavericks going on my new one when back in stock.

It looks like Ford has two options, both stick on. One is a matt black finish and one is smoke acrylic, which is gloss.

We have the Aeroskin Matte version on our F250 and Maverick. Both have held up well.

We also wipe down all outer matte surfaces with Chemical Guys Matte Detail Spray Sealant occasionally to help with UV protection and cleaning.
