I see the BMW 2.0 turbo has 300 hp. Has anyone actually researched the Maverick motor to see how to get more HP. I've looked at all the you tube videos and it seems the the intercooler is undersized. Anyone modified past the cat for improvements?

Tiny turbo, intake, intercooler. Look through the 2.0 thread here and check out the tuning thread. There are several vendors here that are actively modifying and tuning test vehicles. Several have 300hp or better. Burscher has intercoolers for sale that are custom made for the truck and rated for 500+hp when future mods are available

Because we didn't want to pay for BMW performance - sure it's possible, but why? Heck, the Ford 3 cylinder eco boost will get to 200 horses, but that kinda juice and cost isn't needed for this application.

Thanks for the tip. I was hoping to bypass the 25 pages of things unrelated to performance mods.
The Power and Tech categories have hundreds of related threads in their respective forums so you can read what others have found using performance chips and modifications to the Borg-Warner KO3 turbocharger.

Everyman loves to be king of the road... except when the popo are there. I agree though, you gotta rip it every once in awhile to keep it clean and prevent carbon buildup.

Motor mounts are the main thing holding that motor back. Without em it would jump right out of there!

But yeah I think factory configuration and tuning is the only think holding it back. From what I have read in terms of a reliable long lasting motor its probably about a 325hp motor, detuned for an economy pickup truck. I dont think you have to go past the stock turbo to get there. However it may be safer for it to do a larger turbo that way you wont have to stress out the tune as much. Also intercooler, intake, exhaust, catch can, etc.
