Have bought a lot of vehicles over the years. The researching, the ordering, the waiting and finally the drive home from the dealership is where it peaks. After that, it's a few weeks of obsessively cleaning every speck of dirt and dust and looking back at it when you park. Then you get a minor scratch and spill a coffee and you just don't give a shi%$ anymore and it's just transportation.

Enjoy the wait

Lol. Yep add kids smacking their power wheels into it a few times too.

Yep, it’s best to get past the honeymoon phase quickly. Then it just becomes a tool that hopefully remains useful for many years. Also, I have no plans to obsess about gas mileage. It is what it is, and it’s much better than what I had.

The novelty wears off, before the payments do 😁

I don’t buy nice things often. The novelty doesn’t wear thin for me for a very long time. I still smile at 42 MPG on my Prius. Bought the car specifically for gas mileage. I had let go of my cherished F150 that drank gasoline like a fat kid eats at a buffet. I have missed it for nearly 7 years. I loved my F150 every time I drove it for the 18 months and 40k miles. A part of me died when I sold it. The Maverick will be even better with the fact I can pay cash 💰 and keep almost the same MPG as my Prius gets. Top it off with being able to take a kayak to the lake, do Lowes trips without wrecking my car, and so many more Awesome things.

Actually, I've had a few I didn't care for initially, that grew on me over time.

I usually drive the old one and the new one sits for a while and I finally warm up to it. That said, I try to keep them in near-new condition longer than others I know.

Picked the Maverick up this morning. It was one of the few I warmed up to immediately. Selling the Colorado promptly.

Have only bought one used car and never again, the joy isn't there driving it home that first day. That one moment is worth the depreciation hit

I still remember hearing that thud of a foul ball in the parking lot of one of my kid's baseball games, only to find a fresh dent on the edge of the roof, above the driver's door, on my then-new CMax.

I know it's only a CMax, but that was a hard day.

To some the novelty wears off, to others, they cherish their purchase for a long time regardless of 'dings or scratches' I wouldn't group everyone into your thought process just because it's a utilitarian tool. Tools can be cherished and appreciated for a long time.
I'm sure those who buy Bentley's and Rolls Royce's don't think like you, and certainly don't let dents happen as quickly as you. There are some that will treat their Maverick like their 'Bentleys'...I'm sure I will make sure it stays as pristine as new for as long as possible so I won't loose that initial feeling.

Not if you buy a Miata. The joy never dims. I should know. I owned three. More smiles per mile than any other car in creation. While all the drivers around you are posing for each other in their overweight, overpowered, super-macho ego trips, you'll be having actual fun.
